Lavinia World - Clean and Simple

My first EVER really Clean-and-Simple card!
So glad you are here to witness it (giggling).

And now you know it is time for a new Lavinia World Challenge!

Details of our Lavinia World ChallengeAn ANYTHING GOES theme using ANY brand clear or rubber stamp - no digitals. Winner receives
a $15 gift certificate to the Lavinia World store.

We now have a new Facebook Group where you can upload your Lavinia cards. It is called ANYTHING LAVINIA. The blog Lavinia World Challenge is an Anything Goes theme with any brand of clear or rubber stamps (no digitals). The Facebook Group Anything Lavinia is also an anything goes theme, but permits only projects made using any Lavinia Products.

Today's project:
Our beloved DT Coordinator and my dear friend,
Anne Temple
challenged me to do a CAS card, because she knows I've never been able to make one. So today's card is CAS - but it was not simple for me to make. (giggling) After 2 tries, and 3 backgrounds, I just went for whatever happened.

I spritzed water onto 4.25" x 5.5" cold pressed watercolor paper. The glass Work Surface was dabbed with two colors of Oxide inks and also spritzed with water. The paper was smooshed on top of the watered-down ink, and dried with a heat gun. (PS on the third try I dropped my ink pad twice, but decided to use the background anyway.)

Dragon Verse was stamped with Distress Peacock Feathers ink, stamped off once on scrap paper, and then stamped on top of the background.

Fairytale (fairy)  was stamped with VersaFine Clair Cheerful Yellow and heat set with white detail embossing powder. I use the VFC because the image is superior than any other ink and it gives complete coverage.

Using a ruler and a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen I made two intersecting straight lines for visual interest, and heat set them with more white detail EP:

Shown above, her wings are colored with Zig #4 FL Green and Zig #42 Turquoise Green brush markers. The closest wing was slightly cut out to fit atop the white aperture. Also shown above, the Once Upon a Dream image was stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and heat set with black with black detail EP that contains silver mica powder. The "splatter" of the black sentiment is actually part of the sentiment - it is distressed for us already.

Card Assembly: Die cat 4.5" x 5.75" white cardstock with choice of aperture die. Attach the color panel to the back to the frame. Cut the vellum strip and place the sentiment, folding the ends behind the white aperture. Use white "fun foam" and adhere to back of finished layer. Attach to white 4.75" x 6" card base:

Here is the front with a white background (hard to photograph white on white):

I have never made a CAS card, Donna, and your card is a great inspiration for me. You created a lovely background and I love that you made the fairy white and not black. Hugs, my friend.

Absolutely gorgeous Donna! Now you can say you did a CAS card and never have to do another one :-). Love the added lines - they are perfect for this stamp and add a lot of visual interest. Love the colors you've used too. You definitely met - and exceeded - the challenge!!!

Yay!! So proud of your first CAS design Donna! You've done an amazing job with it too! The colors with your fairy panel are stunning! The vellum sentiment across it is perfect! I had a "phase" of doing some CAS style cards and remember it being VERY difficult. I still do one but only once in a while as I just happen to love the style that fits me comfortably, so I understand and hope you don't totally give up on it! :) I love your card! HUGS

Well I assume that won't be your last? You nailed it! Although CAS, with all the little extra elements, it is still a definite "Donna" card. Love the colors that you chose too.

Donna your card is a perfect Clean and Simple card! I love the color oxides you used! The Dragons Verse in the background is so awesome, how did you get to be just barely there? That fairy looks amazing, I love everything about this card!

You have done a wonderful card with your CAS card! Beautiful background and love the embossing in white. I didn't know you could emboss with a glue pen, I didn't need to by a versamark pen after all. Like your extra touches.

Oh, how lovely, Donna! I love the aqua color you chose for the background with the silhouette stamp in white. Magnificent!

Donna, I hope you know how really beautiful this card is! There's just something about all that pristine white, especially with the blue. What a lovely background. The stamp pad outline looks like it belongs there. I like the white lines you added, too. I'm getting a little better at CAS, but I can't shake my love of all the fun stuff, either. I've always been mostly middle of the road. In the beginning, a truly CAS card took me WAY longer to make than a non-CAS, just because I wasn't used to it. I do love CAS and I really, REALLY love your card!

Donna Phelan said...

You did it! YAY you! They are very hard to make I think lol I like your design, lots of white space! The embossing and ink smooshing look great! I love those 2 intersecting lines you added for accent, pretty cool! Again, well done!

Perfect CAS card. Mission accomplished! I related to this post 150%. I have to force myself to practice one a month when I can and although I haven't resorted to just CASE'ing someone else's, I just may! My problem is, I can't stand all that white space. Makes me think the recipient is going feel jipped or something, lol. XOX

You are such a hoot. I am not good at CAS either, but what a beautiful job you did. Love the cut out over the image and the white on white is always a winner. Gorgeous.
