My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Sooo... What's My Name?

Isn't this little Besties Girl darling?

When my friend Lis recently broke her leg, I asked if Sherri Baldy could please create a Besties character with a cast so I could make a card for Lis. This little darling is the result!

Isn't she delightful?
AND
a mess, too!

(Thank You, Sherri!)

Sherri has a FaceBook contest to name this little darling. Click here and scroll down to the image for the details. There are some great name suggestions!

For the time being, she could be Crutch Girl, but that sounds so impersonal.

I will call her Limping Lis until a proper name can be given her. (smile)

Lis is known in the Florida Stampers as the Paper Maker because she makes her own paper.

To personalize Lis' card, I used some of her own "Velvet Fabric" paper (it's the fuzzy pink layer, and what the flowers are made of).

The card is also very GREEN -- for Earth Day -- and -- because Lis is a Master Gardener.

Click here to buy this adorable little Get Well Besties!

My card uses the sketch from Fetch a Sketch Challenge:

The photo below shows the rich texture of Lis' handmade velvet paper.

Soooo... what's her name? Feel free to share your imaginative names in a comment below for an additional chance to win my April blog candy. (being a follower is not necessary - though I love it if you do - and I will do everything possible to contact you through blogger or you may send me your e-mail address - if you win).

Three ribbons were combined with my awesome Craft-dee Bowz tool to create a bow similar to the one in Limpin' Lis' hair and crutch.

The buttons are stitched to their flowers, and the poke a dotted paper is also stitched around the edges.

A snapshot of the interior, using the plush Velvet Fabric hand-made paper again.

Thank you very much for stopping by today. Hope you enjoyed this latest little Besties. Now you know the story of how she came to be, too!

My Get Well card is entered in the following wonderful challenges:

Wee Winged Little Sister Besties

Note: April's Blog Candy Question can be found here. Deadline is April 30.

Aw...

  aren't we just too,

         TOO
                 sweet?

      and too cute?

             and OH SO darling?

Aren't we?

Introducing Sherri Baldy's new creations

"Wee Winged Besties"

There are several images for this set - click here to view them all and get your daily dose of adorable-ness.

Each month, the design team at Scrapbook Stamp Society is given a challenge. This month, we are to create cards utilizing embellishments not commonly seen on cards. I was given this adorable image called Wee Winged Little Sister Besties.

It was then that I noticed Big Sister was actually posing in front of a mirror so she could admire her pretty little self,
and to make sure her perfect little wings were on straight and had just the right amount of glitter,
and that her tights were properly pulled up.
And... you know how big sisters are...

It was difficult keeping my reflection out of the "mirror" while photographing

The CD is both her mirror AND my uncommon embellishment for the card.

Fumble Fingers here used the Craft-dee Bowz to make the little bow. Two layers of organza white, and one layer of poke-a-dotted grosgrain aqua ribbon.

The sentiments for this 6x6 easel card are computer generated.

Sweet As Can Be

Happy Thursday! Today's card share is way different for me, and has a lot of "firsts".

What are all my firsts?

It is my first "Cutesy" card. I will make more. (smile)

It is my first card with a Digi Image: Have you been putting it off? It was not nearly as difficult as I made it out to be. (do you ever make things more difficult than they really are?)

Over on the Besties' Site, this adorable freebie "Tiffany and Squeek" was offered so that everyone could participate in her weekly challenge.

Squeek reminds me of the Blue Bird Of Happiness - they are so sweet together.

It is my second time for using Copic Markers in this manner. Is there a trick to staying in the lines? Or is it my fumble fingers which don't cooperate?

Another first- Sneak peek for the sentiments.

They are part of the new Sparkle N Sprinkle Spring Floral #490 set designed by Beccy Muir.

Sparkle embossing powder and Copic markers also from SNS.

The Sparkle EP is used on the dryer sheet, blue panel, and Decorative Labels Eight in order to provide depth to the distress color, and some sparkle, too, of course.

More - It is my first easel card (wonder why I waited so long?

Another first - One blogger mentioned she die cut used dryer sheets for her flowers.

I tried it with Spellbinders dies, but they would not cut through the dryer sheet.

So I stitched the dryer sheet between the lace and blue panel to add some body and fru fru.

I will use more dryer sheets in cardmaking. :-)

It is also the first time my Labels Eight and Decorative Elements Labels Eight have been used - they are beautiful dies!

Thanks for popping by to share my day of "firsts".
