My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Friends are like Fine Wine {Sparkle N Sprinkle}

Hello, Blogging Friends! Welcome to today's fruitful post. I hope you enjoy it.

Featuring the pretty Wine Tableau stamp set, the sentiments are perfect for most all-occasion greetings.

republished from 12-27-11
It's a gorgeous stamp set by artist Rosiland Solomon. Lovely sayings made it impossible to choose just one for my card, so I slightly altered the oval triplet aspect of the sketch to rectangles, accommodating as many of the sayings as possible.

Stunning and easy to color, these images avail themselves to any coloring medium! Are you wondering why the background of the image seems muted? It's stamped on kraft cardstock, outlined with white Prismacolor pencil.

This time I used yet another neglected art supply. High on the top shelf the Derwent Water Color Pencils were "whining" (sorry, couldn't resist the play on words). Popped open the large tin of beautiful colors, and decided to make things easy by using a blender pen instead of water for control on kraft cardstock.

The image is heat embossed with Cerulean embossing powder, part of the Shades and Stars of Tuscany EP collection.

A strip of ribbon is shown on each panel - one with a strip of Tear-ific Tape holding Navy Glitter. Clear EP has been applied to the cheese knife, wine glass, vase and wine bottle.

A Little Wine, Anyone? {Sparkle N Sprinkle}

YAYYYY! You are here!

Now we can share some wine! I have a fun Sparkle N Sprinkle card share for a new Cardz 4 Galz challenge!

Badges are awarded for the Spotlight Winner and Top Picks.

Challenge #37 theme is selected by teamie Babs - Anyone For Cocktails?

so get crafting and show us your favorite cocktails!
Challenge ends on December 21.

My sparkly card has two borders using a Fleur de Lis theme. The bottom portion is actually the flap of the card front. I used a strip of 1/2 inch Tear-ific tape on the inside, burnished Sangria Star EP424 embossing powder on it, and heat set:

This card uses 4 colors of embossing powder:

Sangria Star Embossing Powder
1) The base of the card is white, with the front portion having been punched with a Fleur de Lis border punch by EK Success. On the interior flap is a strip of Tear-ific tape burnished with Sangria Star Embossing Powder  EP424 and heat set. The edges of the watercolored panel are heat set "distressed" with the same EP.

2) The wine glass was colored with Copic Markers, coated by a VersaMarker Pen, then dredged with Clear Detail embossing powder and heat set, to give it a shiny appearance.

3) The sentiment is stamped in VersaMark and heat set with White Detail embossing powder.

4) The "pink" leafy vine was die cut from white paper, colored with copic marker, "colored" with VersaMarker, and heat set with Opaline Embossing Powder (one of my favorite EPs for its versatility).
Opaline Embossing Powder

Here is the card against a white background. Unfortunately, the white border becomes lost. But the white surely does show off all the richness of the "grapie" goodness!

Here is a close-up of the Clear Detail embossing powder on the wine glass. I love the Burgundy Glitz Glitter color with the deeper "wine" colors:

The water color panel was created using Nuance Watercolor Powders.

Using a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen,

I sprinkled a little more Burgundy Glitz Glitter along the water color panel. It looks like sparkling wine dancing across the page:

We want to see all you LUSHES out there!
Oooops!

I mean,
we want to see all your luscious cocktail creations!

On a Personal note:
Sigh! Our last bean crop before that unexpected, heavy freeze we had 2 weeks ago:

Yesterday we awakened to a very humid 75F (24C) and
in a few days we are expected to have another freeze.
I feel badly for the farmers - and all the wildlife!

My Christmas cacti have begun blooming!

Have you ever seen a white one? This one is getting ready to bloom!
