My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Sweet Purple Bunnies for Spring

Waving Hello!
I hope you are doing well.

Today I have some bunny cards to share from an old, old, virginal Inkadinkadoo image, stamped with Monarch VersaFine Clair and colored with Tombow #133 marker. The leaves are very sparkly with glitter. I've used a different glue to adhere the glitter, so hope to hear back from recipients if it did not work well.

A great feat! They are A2 size.

Thanks to my friend Ana for helping

to choose colors on these cards before our quarantine!

Clear glitter was applied to the greenery.

Shaded Lilac Distress ink highlights the background.

SNS Easter Eggs {Our Crafty Corner #7}

Waving hello to my crafting friends!

Today begins challenge #7 for Our Crafty Corner!
Challenge starts this morning and continues until the end of the month.

OCC is a month-long challenge, beginning the first Monday of each month.
Every month's theme: ANYTHING GOES

We now have two sponsors every month!
Sponsored this month by PPinky Dolls and Sparkle N Sprinkle.

My card features Sparkle N Sprinkle's Easter Eggs Digital Image
by artist Jan Mahew

Jan created her Easter Eggs individually - just as regular eggs have different shapes, so do her eggs!
To achieve uniformity for the card, the eggs were fussy cut out, and then layered onto white scallop die cuts.

Because Spring brights forth pretty colors and LOTS of green, my layers are mostly green tones.

Layering the Martha Stewart Double Arch was interesting.
There is sparkling "Starfire" glitter around all the arches, bringing a glitter happiness to the card. The glitter did not photograph very well:

Easter Spring {Scrapy Land}

Welcome to my project for the 14th Scrapy Land Challenge!
(7 simple, glittery small cards - size A2 US - and flat for mailing)

The Challenge is open from March 18 until March 29.
The theme is "EASTER OR SPRING using any die manufacturer which Scrapy Land sells".  Scrapy Land sells over 40 brands of dies, including overseas products, and many are discounted.
The prize is a $15 gift card - good for anything in the Scrapy Land store!

My cards feature the following Scrapy Land dies.
(for all the dies used, please see the product list at bottom of post)

Accomplishment Alert! (giggle)

The cards are flat! (for mailing).     They are small! A2 size (5.5" x 4.25").
Normally I make size A7 (5" x 7"), so this truly was a difficult card to make in my book. (giggle)

Simple METHOD:
The card "jacket" is white and covered completely with Sparkle N Sprinkle Brushable Glue and immediately dredged with glitter. After 30 minutes, the excess glitter was brushed off, and the jacket was glued to the card base. The Easter dies are covered with VersaMark ink and SNS Sparkle EP.

Next, a lavender card using MS chunky glitter with the texture of mylar Easter Basket Grass:

Last but not least, a double-embossed "jacket", dry embossed with Couture Creations Secret Garden and wet embossed with SNS Sparkle EP, to match the interior die cut.
(This is my favorite)

Products Used:
  • Scrapy Land Die-Namites "Spring Egg Scene" DN-1143
  • Scrapy Land Die-Namites "Spring Eggs" DN-1152
  • Scrapy Land Memory Box Cascadia Butterfly Trio
  • Scrapy Land Memory Box Leavenworth Butterfly Trio
  • Spellbinders Classic Squares (create window card base and jacket)
  • Spellbinders Long Classic Scalloped Rectangles (LG) S4-143 (inside sentiment)
  • Glitter: Martha Stewart Chunky, Wee Crafts Coarse Diamond Dust, Sparkle N Sprinkle Bubblegum & Sunny Daze, Stampa Rosa Lavender.
  • Embossing Powder: Sparkle N Sprinkle "Sparkle"
  • Adhesives: Sparkle N Sprinkle Brushable Glue, Allene's Quick Dry Tacky
  • Cardstock: Pink Pearlized Stardream, Lavender, White (and assorted scraps for butterflies)

Deviled Easter Eggs :-)

What does your family do with all those hard boiled eggs after Easter?

My family has a fun solution which gets the kids in on the action - a valuable contribution to those Easter Dinners, too!

Without Paprika:

For the recipe to make these fun deviled eggs, visit our Family Recipes here. Any time a little creative colors are wanted, these are fun to make - whether it is for team sports, holidays, or just because!

Happy Easter hugs to you, my dear blogging friends.

Easter {Sparkle N Sprinkle}

Welcome newest followers Frea KoningsSarah, and Kristi, and to all my sweet blogging friends. Here in central Florida, we are enjoying a splendidly gusty April day with winds from the southeast. My poor snap dragons and petunias are taking a beating!

Today's card share is from a cute Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp set.

Some of the images are available digitally.
The rest are on the Celebrate Life Rubber Stamp Set.

matching cut file

A long-forgotten Spellbinders set (Fancy Tags One) was used for the sentiment, which was then distressed with distress ink and Opaline Cosmic embossing powder.

Beautiful on its own, the Spellbinders Elegant Labels Four was smooshed with VersaMark and embossed with more Opaline Cosmic embossing powder. The effect is a pearly, slightly opalescent appearance. I so wish the photography would have picked that up, instead of the over-kill around the colored sky, which was distressed with a VersaMarker and more Opaline Cosmic embossing powder. The camera has picked up the darkness rather than the opalescent quality. NOT FAIR!

Maybe you can see it a little better here?
(that silvery appearing stuff is actually a creamy iridescence.)

The outside frame is adhered with white dimensionals.
The interior mat is adhered with glue.
The bunny panel has double dimensional adhesive to pop it up a bit higher.

Love those tee-tiny white rose buds from Lavish Laces
Her products are so sweet and reasonably priced.

Sweet little card - and the dies actually made it very easy.
Smooshing VersaMark for EP is not very difficult, either! (giggle)

Fun to make, the image was colored with copics, and a little Daisy Velvet Glitter on the flowers, butterfly and the big carnation.
