My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

House Mouse Reminder to watch where we're going! (smiles)

Hello, sweet friends!

One of my friends severely broke her foot in March. She has not been able to put any weight on it since the surgery, and is finally able to go to physical therapy for strengthening. She will be so happy when once again the she's behind the steering wheel and able to get out and about. Done in her favorite color purple, "New Proverb" seemed perfect at this stage of her recovery. The House Mouse image was colored with Copics and Distress Inks:

I noticed House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge is sponsoring a fancy fold card challenge this time, so I decided on an easel card:

The oldie stuff is the image, dies and those old old OLD flowers from long ago (before Postal Regulations were altered regarding dimensional cards)

Always brimming with jam-packed stories and sweetness, House Mouse images bring out the happiness factor for any occasion.  Full photo:

On A Personal Note:

Thank you for your kind messages and cards. The procedures on my spine and legs last year have helped tremendously, and I am able to walk about the house and do minimal chores. SO GRATEFUL to my cardiologist and neurologist. The not so good news is I have been moved from "moderate-to-severe" to "severe" in my ME/CFS diagnosis. The other diseases are affected by the ME, but they are manageable. Thank you for being such understanding friends. My diminishing abilities is why I've been unable to leave many comments on your blogs.

Lots of Love,

House Mouse Gingerbread Decorating {Christmas Bingo Challenges}

NOTE: My Jan's Digi Stamps design team project is also published today here.

Yippee! I'm so excited to share a brand new Christmas Challenge for blog land!

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! A brand new challenge blog for Christmas lovers all year long!

Named Christmas BINGO Challenges, a new bingo card is available for each challenge. But this bingo is a bit different. Only columns may be used (not rows or diagonal choices). Each column includes a FREE SPACE, which you may also use. Please utilize three or more squares in the column of your choice. (more details on blog)

In this case, I have chosen the "B" column.

Tags (in the upper right of my card)

Dots (in the background papers)

Green (papers are pine needle green)

Stamped Image (House Mouse & Hero Arts)

and I even can say "free" because I've used some other "stuff" on the card (giggle)

Remember, you only have to use 3 squares in one column, and FREE can be one of your choices!

Colored with Copic Markers, this darling House Mouse stamp is now retired. Fortunately, I had stamped a few from a friend several years ago.

The sentiment is stamped in Rain Forest VersaFine Clair and heat set with clear detail embossing powder.

The House Mouse line is one I never tire of coloring.

How about you? Do you have certain favorite stamps or stamp lines that you enjoy? Or do you find yourself going through cycles of certain styles and techniques?

I tried balancing the gold glossy die cut with the brass bell in the image:

Come on over and show us what you can do with the bingo card at Christmas BINGO Challenges.

It's All About the Cupcakes! (and freebie)

Eek! Welcome, my friends!

House Mouse and Friends has an Anything Goes with Option of Food or Beverage challenge happening.  I'm playing with this cute image called Cupcake Belly. All three stamps were virginal, affectionately called NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff).

SB Grand Large Labels, SW Ornate Pierced Design were used to make the frame:

Because I use both, a friend asked what the difference is between PrismaColor colored pencils and Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 Color Pencils. I love both, and use both with Gamsol. The PrismaColor brand has a level of waxiness even after blended. The Caran d'Ache Luminance Pencils glide on very "creamy-dreamy" and do not have waxy-shiny finish. The Caran require a light touch (good for feeble hands), and blend more readily. That's my experience, anyway!

thanks for popping by today!

Products Used: Three Never Before Used Stamps - HMCP13 Cupcake Belly, freebie sentiment below; Colored with Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 Color Pencils and Gamsol and distress inks, Impression Obsession CAD Screen (on frame), Penny Black Sprinkles & Shine "Have your cake",  INKS: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaFine Clair Cheerful, Scattered Straw, Salvaged Patina, Wild Honey, Antique Linen & Abandoned Coral Distress Inks, Paper: Lime Green, Melon, White, DIES: SB Grand Large Labels, SW Ornate Pierced Design, MS Swirling Lace PAP, Other: Copper Cosmic Embossing Powder, Party Hats, Yellow Glitter

My Gift to You:

A sentiment for use on the inside or outside of your projects. Please do not sell the Sentiments. Use on any of your projects, including projects involving any design teams you might be on.

Click on the image to bring it to full size. Because of the changes Google Made with Blogger in June 2020, your image will appear to be solid black. Don’t panic. Right click and do a SAVE. Once it is saved on your hard drive, you can open it and it will have a transparent background. I create PNGs instead of JPGs so they can be placed anywhere on a scene or project, and so backgrounds can be made using them. Please let me know if you have any problems. I hope they serve you well!

Enjoy!

Playing in the following awesome challenges!

How'd THAT happen?

I'm in "whacky" mode today with a silly card for the

Monday House Mouse and Friends Challenge.

How'd THAT happen?

  • Did they drink too much Colloidal Silver?
  • Were they feeling Blue and "blue" just happened?
  • Did they try and try until they turned blue in the face, and ultimately, had an accident?
  • Were they transformed during a Blue Moon event?
  • Is it a Halloween costume effect gone awry?
Amanda is trying her best to help her chipmunk buddy. Something tells me both of them were lucky that things did not become even MORE serious. Giggling. What do YOU think they were up to?

Are there clues in the list of recovery rules?

Pigmented with Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 Color Pencils and Gamsol these mischievous friends were fun to color (although my friends were shaking their heads in disbelief - I can see their point).

Thanks for brightening my day with your visit!

House Mouse and Friends - Love Challenge

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenges is having their Anything Goes with Option of Love and Valentines this round. They also have a fabulous blog hop happening.

My entry uses an image that would not normally be considered Lovey-Dovey or Valentine-ish, but in our home it definitely would be!
It's sharing a piece of yummy banana cream pie with a little whipped cream.

Interior:

The verse was stamped with Pinecone VersaFine Clair but then I decided to heat emboss - several minutes later, I dredged Sparkle Embossing Powder EP107 on it and embossed. I promise it is sparkly and chocolatey, though it looks darker.

Colored with Copic Markers and PrismaColor Markers, I was dreaming of a key lime pie instead of banana, hence the green background (giggle).

Thanks for stopping by!

New Proverb House Mouse {Sparkle N Sprinkle}

Hi, Everyone! Wishing you a great day, and hoping you are doing well. Summer is in full force here with highs in the mid 90s (34-35C). Our vegetable garden is done except for some hot-hot peppers, okra (for roasting and barbecuing), and field peas (not green peas).

Time for a Sparkle N Sprinkle card.
Today's card is for a dear friend who recently underwent a very serious surgery. It's been a few weeks now, and she is beginning to feel a little better, but has a long way to go. This sweet card should cheer her!

Have you seen the "fix" for blogger comments? If not, click on the red link at the top of my blog.

House Mouse stamps have been among my bestest favorites for over 25 years. They are cute, reveal our own nature to us, and express love and sweetness in the most darling of scenes.

This card is 6" x 6" but the stamp is great for an A2 size as well. White cardstock was folded in half, with pattern paper placed on top.

Some favorite goodies used on this card:

The Mixed Edge Rectangles die set contains 13 dies alternating straight edge and scallop edge. I like these for the value, and also because they make great frames. I also like the Tim Holtz 9.5" Titanium Shears because it is easier free-cutting straight lines with them through just about any material.

A close-up of the sentiment from the Pansies Set heat embossed with pretty Blue Ribbon Detail EP:

The floral spray was made with Tonic Beautiful BramblesTonic Autumnal Oak, and Tonic Woodland Aster. The pieces were cut up, embossed with Mediterranean Star EP, glittered with Starfire Ultrafine Glitter, and spritzed with Mica Mist in Fresh Pear. The flower layers were spritzed with water, rolled, allowed to dry, before glittering:

After spritzing the pieces, I looked at the paper under the pieces. What a great background piece it would make:

Loved the sweet "proverb" in this card. It's a great reminder to anyone who has trouble letting their body mend, too:

Such cuteness and lots of fun to make!

You're My Favorite {House Mouse Challenge}

Hello, House Mouse lovers!
Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Today's sweet little Valentine is done in unconventional colors for my hubby, and being submitted to House Mouse Anything Goes with optional theme of "Sweets or Hearts". Perfect for this stamp!

I saw the image on Bunny's Blog, and had to have it.
(thanks, Bunny!)

Colored with Copic Markers and die base inks, this little mousie is happily reading all about his fabulous characteristics. One of my great joys throughout the day is reminding Jacky of the various qualities I enjoy about him, or expressing my appreciation for all those drudgery things he does. Every Day. Hearing appreciation really does brighten our days, doesn't it?

My wonky frame was made from white paper, smooshed with VersaMark and heat set with sparkly Sienna Star embossing powder.

Jacky always says, "You are my Favor-ITE" with emphasis on the long "I" sound.

The Stamp may be new, but everything else is old, old, old.

Thanks for stopping by, and best wishes from a sweet day!

House Mouse Challenge with "ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES" theme

Not a creature was stirring...
not EVEN a ...

Greetings, friends!
In my last post, I mentioned that we had beautiful warm weather and were still using air conditioning. Today's weather is different. We are below freezing! I feel sorry for all the wildlife, farmers, and our plants - they don't know what is happening!
Sigh. All good things must come to an end. This is my final Guest Design card with my wonderful mice buddies at House Mouse and Friends!

SPECIAL HOLIDAY CHALLENGE
#256 Anything Christmas Goes
December 11th through January 8th

There are so many darling stories these House Mouse stamps tell. My imagination smiles and giggles while coloring them, and putting the cards together.

These two characters were misbehaving all night, when they were finally told that Santa would not come until they ceased their shenanigans and went to sleep. They stopped right where they were, closed their eyes -- and

did they REALLY fall immediately to sleep? Or are they pretending?

What do you think?

Colored with Copic Markers, the darling House Mouse image (called FRIENDLY DREAMS) was die cut with a pretty Sue Wilson die - Indian Ocean - Maldives CED10015.

Bringing out more of my AGES OLD K&C paper, it has been embellished with awesome Champagne Glass Glitter. I wish you could see it in real life - what sparkle this has! AND easy to use without glittery particles floating around, too!
(click on the photo below for a close-up of this glitter please)

The glass glitter was adhered with Nuvo Glitter Accents Aztec Gold. I chose this as "adhesive" because all the crevices were covered with the same color of glittery goodness between the chunky glass glitter pieces. It really affords a nice dimensional look whether used alone, or adding more glitter atop.

It's been such a pleasure designing with the Mousie crowd these two months!

House Mouse Challenge Anything Goes with BIRTHDAY IN DECEMBER theme

Greetings friends!
I'm continuing the Guest Design gig with House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge today!

Challenge #255 Anything Goes OR Theme Option "Birthday in December"
November 27 - December 9th

So much fun coloring this over-partied mousie setting with Copic Markers in the cool colors of December, yet livening it up a bit with K and Company's Elegant Christmas Papers (from how many Christmas's ago? 10 at least!)

SIGH:
But some papers age gracefully, and never lose their timeless quality.

These colorful snowflake flowers were in the designer paper, and made the perfect accent for a BIRTHDAY IN DECEMBER!

A bit of tulle was added for texture.

A shiny button tied with jute twine finishes it all off!

Please link up with us at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge and show us your pretties. Remember, it can be Anything Goes House Mouse or the optional theme!
