My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Heart and Home (Christmas Bingo Challenges)

Hello, dear blogging friends! A New Freebie Sentiment for you - just scroll to the bottom of my post!

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Our second challenge at Christmas BINGO Challenges, is for Christmas lovers all year long!

A new bingo card is available for each challenge. But this bingo game is a bit different. Only columns may be used (not rows or diagonal choices). Each column includes a FREE SPACE, which you may also use. Please utilize three or more squares in the column of your choice. (more details on blog)

In this case, I have selected the letter "N" and included Pearls, Pink, Teal, and FREE (yes, you may include the FREE space as one of your three items in a row.

This darling little Besties Winder Dreams has long been printed in my "to be colored" drawer, awaiting some medium application, so she has been turned into a cute Christmas card.

What's not to like about pink and teal with all the variations?

After assembling this card, some white flocking with a little clear glitter was added to the fuzzy tassel on the little bird's hat, and on the little girl's ear muffs, furry cuff and furry skirt trim.

I was a little heavy handed with the pinks, but hey, can you REALLY have too much pink?

(giggle)

My Besties - Get Well

Waving "Hello" to each of you, and wishing you a great week.
Today's card share is a sweet image from the Get Well Besties line, for a card swap - theme was to have a person on the front.

The card is 5.5" x 7" with a woven die cut frame and glittered leaves:

She is so cute! I also colored this image in bright green and pink on an oval shaped card here.

The sentiment is heat embossed. A rectangle containing the image was distressed and then popped up on another distressed die cut:

The Merry Christmas Challenge #43 - My Besties Penny with Penguins

Good Morning, dear blogging friends!
Whew! Less than 2 months before the end of 2017. Is it possible?

I'm happy to share:
Today begins a new challenge at the Merry Christmas Challenge Group!

The theme is always ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES. This can include any type of crafting at all, so work on those decorations, tags, wreaths, sweaters, cards -- Anything Christmas Goes! Every week begins a new challenge.

My card features My Besties "Penny With Penguins"

Penny is penguin crazy, and enjoys basking in their company, and dressing them up to match her own outfits!

The light "snow-laden" frame (popped up with dimensionals) was created with two die sets, and then passed through an embossing folder. The embossed snowfall was lightly sanded.

I couldn't let this one go by without glitter, so I've used three kinds. The microfine glitter graces the strings holding the ornaments. Ultrafine glitter was adhered to the greenery, with more glitter tinsel applied on top of that. The tinsel sparkles lots in real life!

Penny was colored with Copic Markers.
The ornament die and greenery are pieces cut from the Tattered Lace Art Deco Baubles.

On a Personal Note:

While many of you are wishing to thaw out from freezes, or shovel yourselves out of snow-covered peaks, we have been enjoying an extremely mild, wet winter. Just so you know, though, it means lots more bugs, vines, weeds, and soil contaminants that a good freeze can quill to help farmers and normal people tolerate the hot months.

A little stroll at 8:30 AM - the sun just after sunrise:

A dwarf azalea on steroids - giggle. The early morning sun is casting light on the screen. You might be able to see that it is slightly green because of how damp the winter has been - we must pressure wash the mold and mildew off. (not essential if we have normal weather patterns).

Kilo, wondering what I'm doing, and why am I walking so early:

The last of our cabbages and onions. It's too warm to leave them in the ground any longer:

The "Community Water Hole" so that all the critters and birds can drink during the day; and at night, water for the deer, opossums, raccoons, bobcats, foxes, and whatever else strolls through in the nocturnal hours.

One of the several woodpiles stacked around the property. During the cooler months, lots of tree trimming is done to minimize damages from summer storms, tropical storms and hurricanes. After the debris is burned, the larger pieces are split using our log splitter. I marvel that my husband enjoys doing these things. The "logs" have since been transported to the open-air "wood shed".

Top of the "hill", and the top of our property, are these large azaleas. The center bushes are a good 12 feet high (3.6 meters). Everything is in a shadow - the foreground reveals a bit of sunshine trying to peek through the trees as it is still early:

My favorite person Jack (and Kilo, his faithful sidekick) at the waterhole. (The wood pile behind him has been stashed away). That large green plant growing up the huge oak trees in the back left is a Monstera in the Philodendron Pothos variety.
Because we have not had severe freezes the past several years, it is growing crazily!

Another woodpile - which has been since stacked. The little open air "wood shed" is visible below at the right. We enjoy using the fireplace when there is a chill in their air, or if it is too warm for the heater, but it's chilly outdoors and very wet. During the winter, of course:

March means a month of severe pruning and massive leaf raking! All the brown area above is fallen oak leaves. Our oaks lose their leaves in February, and grow little "squiggles" at the beginning of March in order to release pollen. The air will be yellow with pollen, and we all stay away as much as possible. It is those weeks we relish heavy rains to knock the pollen out of the trees and air.

A Snowman's HUG A HEART CARD DRIVE

My card is being used for the

Hug a Heart Drive:

to brighten the holidays for the very young pediatric cardiac patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital. The husband of Our Blogging Buddy Christina Hor Designs is a cardiologist there.

This year, Christina and her children are creating mini 3D Christmas trees for each room in the intensive care and inpatient wings. With so many rooms, Christina has never been able to have a card for every child spends Christmas in the cardiac unit.
This year, she is hoping to do that, but needs a little help from friends.
For more information please click here.
and a sweet thank you from me to my Sweet Friends!

On a Personal Note:

What happened? Did Old Man Winter make a mistake?
We were warned that our area MIGHT have a chance of frost Monday night.
Something unheard of for Florida in November.
Not only did we have a frost, but we were 30F degrees (-1.1C) for several hours.
So our vegetable garden and tender plants likely bit the dust. We'll know in a few days.
The front pasture was coated with a thick layer of icy frost until about 9AM this morning - VERY unusual for Florida in November! But pretty, none-the-less. (there is always a silver lining, right?)

So what caused this turn of events?

I think Shona Erlenborn's visit to Sanibel Island triggered the frost.
She flew down from New Jersey last week.
It **HAS** to be her fault, doesn't it?

In the meantime, Florida's weather is gorgeously welcome, with lower dew points for lower humidity, and highs in the high 70s to low 80s. We love it! And so would you, so head over our way and visit the fabulous theme parks in our area.

PS. The Barred Owls were serenading and laughing again last night!

I'd like to support the following Challenges please:

Garden Fairy

Welcome, everyone!
Hope this finds you doing well.

Today I'm celebrating my birthday by guest designing for
the Scrapbook Stamp Society
using this darling Garden Fairy image by Sherri Baldy!

Although we love living in Florida,  it is still hot and humid here.
My card reveals that I'm dreaming of the cooler, less humid days of a Florida Autumn
-- another 3-4 weeks to go! sigh...

I always enjoy coloring these sweeties with Copic Markers.
Brings out the little girl in me.

Design Tip:

Don't waste that pretty paper!

Here is a Close Up of the "easel stop" using the left over portions:

Love this pearly coated vellum! Wish the photos better reflect it!

(The heart brad was an ugly color, so it was heated up, dipped into embossing powder, with the process repeated two more times. The EP is a Cosmic color, giving it that creamy, pearly finish)

Tip:

Use your stash by changing those outdated flowers!
On the left are the bright yellow Prima Flowers.
On the right, they have been inked, crumpled, and layered.

Finished card:
(gorgeous embossing folder! It's a shame to cover it up!)

Thanks for popping by today, friends!
