My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

A little Shabby Chic - Moving Along With The Times Challenge

Hello, dear blogging friends!
To spice things up, I have a colorful take on the Shabby Chic theme.
(taking a few cues from my color-loving friend Sue Drees)

My wishes for you all...

And now...

It's time to share a Project for the new Moving Along With The Times Challenge!

Challenge #91's theme is A LITTLE SHABBY - for the next 2 weeks upload your creations that feature Shabby Chic style in some way!

Verses Rubber Stamp "Today" is the star of today's show. Sigh. I just love this sentiment and would use it very often if I could. Perfect inside or out!

The edges of the blue frame are painted with glue and coated with Ultrafine Navy Glitter. The sentiment is popped up on top, after being stamped with Blue Belle VersaFine Clair ink and heat set with Satin Velvet Embossing Powder.

PERSONAL NOTE: The antique lace is at least 75 years old, from my Great Aunt Agnes's Stash - the lace is from the 1930s when she worked in a hospital as a registered nurse. Because of her skills, friends and neighbors came to her home for help during the Depression. They paid her with all kinds of barter and goods when they were able.

Along with my fingers, I died the lace with Blue Print Distress reinker.

BOO-BOO CONFESSION:
For the interior, I dropped my distress ink applicator tool and smudged ink near the top of the insert. When picking the applicator up, I dropped it AGAIN, so I deliberately smooshed more ink on the panel, and stamped this lovely Penny Black Stamp rose "When I love you".

I loved making this card! Hope you will join us this fortnight!

Christmas at Sweet Stampin' - Lacy Snowflake

It's me! I'm back! (giggle)
Welcome to my little blog - Today's Christmas cards are fraternal twins!
One has the snowflake centered, and the other is to the right

Today begins a new challenge at
Christmas at Sweet Stampin'!

My marvelously brilliant teammates have fantastic samples to share! We hope to see your imaginative artwork each month in our "Anything Goes Christmas" Challenges. The challenge is for ANY Christmas theme craft project. January's Challenge is open until March 12.

This month I'm playing with my virginal Spellbinders Curved Borders Two die set. This die has been in my stash for years, and never used. How could this happen? (giggle). Looks cute in this 4.5" x 6.75" card - resembles a tag.

Also virginal and being featured is Really Reasonable Ribbon Hunter Green Glitter Ribbon. I promise you it is very sparkly and blindingly so! (more giggles - sorry I can't stop) It's a double loop bow.
Speaking of loopy... someone make me stop giggling!

So which are you?
A person who prefers asymmetrical art?
Or someone who prefers everything to be symmetrical?
I prefer the right card, my husband prefers the centered card.
Of course, you may not prefer either of them! haha

Though it looks nothing like the inspirational card on My Stampin' Memories Blog, my creation is a knock off of her pretty card

Interior:
The sentiment was stamped with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, coated with Sparkle Embossing Powder, and heat set. It also has lots of sparkle.

Products Used:
Wild Rose Studios - Lacy Snowflake Die
SU Flurry of Wishes stamp set

House Mouse and Friends - Love Challenge

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenges is having their Anything Goes with Option of Love and Valentines this round. They also have a fabulous blog hop happening.

My entry uses an image that would not normally be considered Lovey-Dovey or Valentine-ish, but in our home it definitely would be!
It's sharing a piece of yummy banana cream pie with a little whipped cream.

Interior:

The verse was stamped with Pinecone VersaFine Clair but then I decided to heat emboss - several minutes later, I dredged Sparkle Embossing Powder EP107 on it and embossed. I promise it is sparkly and chocolatey, though it looks darker.

Colored with Copic Markers and PrismaColor Markers, I was dreaming of a key lime pie instead of banana, hence the green background (giggle).

Thanks for stopping by!

Hidden or Unknown Google Plus ID?

Some of my recent answers to blogging friends seem ambiguous.
Again, I certainly don't claim to understand the workings of Google Products.

However, if you have EVER used Plus Products, you MAY have a "hidden" ID.

How do you know?
Why do you care?

If your ID happens to be tied in UNKNOWINGLY with any Google Product, you may lose your stored information.

BEFORE DELETING YOUR GOOGLE ID, make sure you have downloaded any photos or YouTube videos to your hard drive or other device.

To discover if you have a Google Plus ID, try this.
Go to Google.com or your Google home page (click photo to make larger):

On the right side, click on your picture or login (click photo to make larger):

Notice that directly under my email address, it shows Google Plus Profile. Click it (click photo to make larger):

On the left side, in pale gray, is SETTINGS (click photo to make larger):

Scroll down to bottom and DELETE YOUR GOOGLE + PROFILE (click photo to make larger). When I deleted the profile, I was sent to a "Aw Snap Error Page". Disgusted, I checked my profile, and the Plus was still there. So I quit the Chrome Browser Application, waited 30 minutes, and went back into it. My profile was all clean:

Next, I went into my YouTube account:

I downloaded my 6 little uploads JUST IN CASE it was tied in with that unused Google Plus ID.

I hope this helps anyone else who still has questions.
hugs,
de

BLOGGER - SAFE as long as you do not have any features tied into G+ option ---- GOOGLE PLUS GOING AWAY

To preserve as much of your hard work as possible, please do this ASAP.

Because I've received several requests for assistance, and because one of my friends may have removed information from her Google Account unnecessarily, I am prompted to write this post. Sorry for how long this is, but there are several scenarios, even if you think you are not affected - you MUST be sure you don't have an old Plus ID somewhere that may be affiliated with your email address or account:

Google Plus features are being eliminated: see this link:

Already have a Blogger ID? Please see suggestions highlighted in yellow at the bottom of the post.

Blogger features should be safe AS LONG AS YOU ELIMINATE YOUR GOOGLE PLUS ID AND SWITCH BACK TO A BLOGGER ID before the deadline - please do this as quickly as possible to not lose your blog altogether:

IF YOU ARE USING BLOGGER WITH A GOOGLE + ID:

Because some Blogger users (like me) have enabled a Google + ID, but NOT a Google+ Blog format, the Blogger User/ID information is in the top right corner. I went to someone whose blog was Google + ID and clicked on the banner there to delete my Plus ID (the delete option is at the bottom of the page)

1. For Blogger Blogs using Google+ IDs in addition to Blogger ID, instead, do the following:
2. For Blogs using Google+ IDs also do the following:

  1. Go to Dashboard
  2. Go to SETTINGS (left column)
  3. Go USER SETTINGS
  4. On the right side of the page are some options.
  5. Under GENERAL, select USER PROFILE.
  6. Make sure that BLOGGER is selected and NOT Google+ :
(click on the graphic below to better read those tiny letters)

Click on EDIT (directly under the BLOGGER selection):

A new window pops up:

NOTE:

  • if you are reading this on my blog, please click on the photo below so you can see the full size photo completely, and the writing on the right will not interfere with the photo.

  • if you are reading this via email, I'm hoping it already is at full size for your viewing. If it is not, please click on the title of my blog post in the top of your email, and it will take you to my blog post so you can read it there.

MORE TO DO

A few disappointing things will happen when switching to Blogger ID from Google Plus:

  • Comments you left on any blogs using Google Plus ID will disappear. This means that if you left comments on my blog (or any blog) using your G+ ID, those comments will disappear forever.

  • If your photos are stored in Google Plus ID and NOT JUST A GOOGLE ID, then wherever those photos have been uploaded, they will disappear, including your blog posts. Check your photos stored in the Google Photos. If they are tied in with your Plus Account, DOWNLOAD THEM to your hard drive so you will not permanently lose them. As you have time, you could then revisit old blog posts that have lost their photos and upload from your hard drive.

  • You will lose all your Google Plus followers. Establish the gadget FOLLOWERS by:
  1. Going in into your dashboard
  2. Choose LAYOUT
  3. Click on ADD A GADGET
  4. Choose Followers, and Save:

  • It's ok to ask people to re-follow you using this feature, or perhaps you may want to offer other ways people can follow you. Try to put all your follow options in the same place on your blog, to make it easy for them to find. Remember, several of our blogging friends will be going through this transition, so let's be supportive and patient.

  • Because Blogger and Plus are two different platforms, you are also going to lose all your previous comments. Please don't be discouraged. Remind your blogging friends about this issue, and ask them to please help you rebuild your existing blog by leaving new comments going forward, and following you.

  • The sooner you switch over, the sooner your new blog posts will be safe from purging.

One other suggestion for Blogger ID:

  • If we all would enable our email address, it would allow for email replies from comments left on our blogs. For example, if someone leaves a comment on my blog, asking me a question, I cannot readily/conveniently reply if they do not have their email enabled. Instead, I see the "no-reply" option when clicking reply. To enable your email address for your followers or visitors:
  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Click on SETTINGS
  3. Edit User Profile > Show My Email Address (and be sure this is the correct address - many Blogger users have old addresses shown in there because they forget to correct it, and they forget to hit SAVE).

I hope this helps everyone. I will try my best to help you individually after you have followed these steps if you still have problems. Please keep in mind that I am not a professional, and do not know all the ramifications this may hold in store for us.

hugs,
de

It's A Girl Thing - Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop

Welcome to my post for the MEGA

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born with only one X chromosome, instead of two, leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,500 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term.
Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES.

The one trait I find most interesting is how vital it is for our chromosomes to be healthy so that the correct hormones, proteins, and bodily interactions can take place to help us develop normally. For a quick pictorial explanation of some TS symptoms, please click here

Nineteen caring Sponsors and eleven DT Members have partnered with us to bring Turner Syndrome Awareness to the Public. For details on how you might win any of these fabulous prizes, please see Lori's TS home page. Thanks for learning About Turner Syndrome

My TS cards use a few colors from the TS official color board.

Card One:

Card 1 Products:
Interior - "Ridiculously Adorable" soon in Bugaboo's store
Cottage Cutz Bunny Mini die set
SB Grand Scallop Square die set
SB Classic Scallop Square die set
SB Triple Tear Circle die set
Copic and Prismacolor Markers, Distress Inks

Inside of card (sentiment soon available in Bugaboo's store):

A cute little bunny to keep my darling little TS character company!
Bella has been colored with Copic and Prismacolor markers:

Card Two:

The front of the card is wrapped with ribbon and tied, like a present:

Colored with Copic and Prismacolor markers, and distressed with inks, there is also a bit of dimension with 2 of the flowers and little Bella popped up.

Card 2 Products:

Bugaboo Bella Trio digital stamp set
Interior - "Being Different" soon in Bugaboo's Store
Front sentiment soon in Bugaboo's Store
SB Scalloped Labels One
SB Grand Decorative Labels One
SB Grand Labels One
SB Labels One

The interior is using a sentiment that will become available in the Bugaboo Store soon:

For the exterior sentiment, I used a dimensional glue, and sprinkled clear glitter on it. After it dried, I inserted more drops of glue, and coated in green glitter, and then added more glue, and coated the remaining drops in blue glitter to create a sweet, dimension, sparkly frame:

PLEASE:

Remember to visit the "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Inaugural Blog Hop page to become eligible for prizes.

To see the details for this fun TS card, please click here:

I am also randomly awarding this prize of four SNS stamp sets to one lucky hopper who comments on my blog. Winner to be announced February 15:

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
I was trying to capture the hundred or so robins in our holly tree, stripping it of the bright red berries, but instead, my camera captured the sun's rays! It was 42F (5.5C) that afternoon - yes, here in central Florida! We had a heavy frost that morning, so the "green" looks weary.

  2. Scrapy Land Challenge #106 AG SL dies (dies listed under each card) 2/6 sep post
