The Merry Christmas Challenge #43 - My Besties Penny with Penguins

Good Morning, dear blogging friends!
Whew! Less than 2 months before the end of 2017. Is it possible?

I'm happy to share:
Today begins a new challenge at the Merry Christmas Challenge Group!

The theme is always ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES. This can include any type of crafting at all, so work on those decorations, tags, wreaths, sweaters, cards -- Anything Christmas Goes! Every week begins a new challenge.

My card features My Besties "Penny With Penguins"

Penny is penguin crazy, and enjoys basking in their company, and dressing them up to match her own outfits!

The light "snow-laden" frame (popped up with dimensionals) was created with two die sets, and then passed through an embossing folder. The embossed snowfall was lightly sanded.

I couldn't let this one go by without glitter, so I've used three kinds. The microfine glitter graces the strings holding the ornaments. Ultrafine glitter was adhered to the greenery, with more glitter tinsel applied on top of that. The tinsel sparkles lots in real life!

Penny was colored with Copic Markers.
The ornament die and greenery are pieces cut from the Tattered Lace Art Deco Baubles.

  • Sherri Baldy's My Besties "Penny With Penguins"
  • MISC: Copic Markers, Stampin Up! Elegant Cheer sentiment, SU punch, MS Stars Edge Punch,
  • Dies: SB Mega Curved Rectangles Nestabilities, SW Double Pierced Rectangles, Tattered Lace Art Deco Baubles
  • Embossing Folder: Craftwell Delicate Dots
  • Sparkle N Sprinkle: Waterfall Ultrafine Glitter, Sonic Silver Mircofine Glitter, Moonrise Glitter Tinsel, Tonic Deluxe Adhesive, Tear-ific Tape

Oh my, Donna, what a sweetie pie she is, and look at those penguin pals! Hehe! What a beautiful color palette you've used, and I love the beautiful array of dies. You truly know how to "put it all together," my friend! You are amazing and always delight me. I've been a bit MIA of late and just can't seem to get it together...perhaps before Christmas...crossing my fingers as I fret about all the cards I still need. But it's okay. You made me smile and sigh...and that's worth any fussy over cards! Beautifully done and a real delight!! Hugs and love! xoxo

Hallo liebe Donna,

Donna, what beautiful coloring as always, but I love the cold, frosty, wintery feel you've achieved on this one. Her hair is amazing with what looks like a touch of silver in it. I love these colors you've used and the sparkle you've added to all the little things which make the card what it is. Beautiful!

It's always the little things that catch my eye first, and maybe it's not such a "little" thing, but the way you colored her hair just WOWs me! All that color and shading. No ordinary hair coloring for you, no siree! Your amazing creativity is showing in all the details on this card, Donna. So much fun to look at!

Good morning Donna! Well isn't this gorgeous! Your image is amazing. I normally don't enjoy the Besties images, kind of creepy with the big eyes, but your colouring has made this image so soft and subtle, I really enjoy the wintery feel of it! Amazing attention to detail with all your accent pieces, this is a fantastic wintery creation!!

We had another warm streak here but the temperatures have finally dipped down a bit. They say we may get snow today or tomorrow, but that may be wishful thinking on my part! Just in case though, I have my hot chocolate with marshmallows all ready to go!! lol. Hope all is well with you my friend, sending hugs :)

aggh! internet went down and lost my comment. In reference to the balloon highlights, I use a pencil called General's charcoal white, which is like charcoal. Lots of it plus gel pen first, white chalk then this pencil last until I am happy with the 'look'. It looks ugly then it's right. Then I add lots of glossy accent. I use Papier Glass Finish, let it dry and add a tad more in places I was risen. It looks awesome in real life...hugs to you my friend..Have a lovely weekend.♥

She is just way too cute and I love her little penguin friends, excellent coloring and your choice for the ornaments on the side as an accent is just splendid idea :) Love the sparkle around the sentiment too!
