My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Tractor Happiness

Hello, Everyone, and a very warm welcome to you! These days, I'm realizing with some sadness that I must abandon the fun of getting all messy and inky, with less experimentation of products, due to declining abilities. As crafters, we're so lucky to have a digital medium to play with, aren't we? Normally, I would still layer, and use lots of other traditional products, and die cuts, but right now, that's not very doable. Still, a card was made for Jack's 83rd birthday.

As many of you know, we live on a "mini" farm in rural Florida. Jack has many coveted boy-toys, including tractors. At one time, we had a huge antique Ford 5000, which this image reminds me of. Tracey at Fred She Said offers so many awesome digitals, that also come with beautifully colored options. I popped it in my Photos App, changing the "filter" for the overall look to make a more autumnal flavor.

I want to especially thank Tracey for making her beautiful, heartfelt artwork available to the rest of us.

Using the free Pages App on my trusty Mac, a 5.25" square scene was placed on a document. Then I duplicated the JPG image to "layer" on top of that image. A white square image was placed between the two JPGs in order to make a white frame. The frame was actually "shadowed" in charcoal gray, giving it the appearance of having been cut out and popped up atop the bottom JPG. Layered on top of those images are two sentiments - one with a transparent background saying "Happy Birthday", and a second, layered on top with a white background "leave a little dirt wherever you go." Leaving a dirt trail is rather a common trait at our place, with all the upkeep, gardening, tree maintenance, pasture cutting, raised vegetable beds as well as those which are tilled in the ground. Fortunately, it is easy to swiffer it up these days LOL.

The bottom portion of the easel was created the same way as the top scene, but was flipped horizontally in Pages App, with some portions of the tractor "erased" to accommodate a dimensional sentiment. A portion with "Do whatever makes you" was printed twice, with a small stop created seamlessly. One sheet of white cardstock was used for everything, and one and a half cinnamon colored sheets were utilized to make a 5.5 inch square easel card.

Products: The Old Tractor by FSS, white & cinnamon cardstock, black oxide ink. Sentiments are digitally created separately from various digi sets.

A beautiful digital image Donna and I love the easel shape which shows it off perfectly and this is a great masculine card with the tractor as the focal image. x
