Coloring on Vellum - Back to Basics Challenge

Hello, everyone! Did those of you who braved Black Friday survive?
Hoping this finds you and yours in good health.
It's time for a brand new Back to Basics and Beyond Challenge!
BBB is also having a DT Call! If you're looking for an easy-going, fun great to work with, and one that is using a different technique in each challenge, please check out the DT info on our home page.

For the next two weeks, join us by uploading an "Anything-Goes" project as long as it uses vellum which has been hand colored on the back side. I have not used this technique in over 10 years! How sad is that. This challenge has awakened a renewed passion for playing with it. The team has all kinds of inspiration and a variety of styles to view, so take a look! Hope to see yours there.

My cards feature an old Outlines Rubber Stamp by Hampton Art. The stamp has been in my stash since 2011, but is one of my favorites. The vellum has shiny confetti on it. VersaFine Clair Golden Meadow was used to get a clean, crisp image, then dredged with Gold Detail Embossing Powder. It melted very quickly:

First up is a lovely, soft rendition using only 2 colors of Copic Markers. I heat set Gold Detail Embossing Powder on the front side of the vellum, flipped it over, and colored with a pale blue #12 copic marker, and then darker color in the smaller areas:

The top of the vellum is folded over a piece of white cardstock, and adhered from behind to pale aqua cardstock.

The blue copic marker shades the entire embossed area:

The second card includes a fun, wonky frame using two square dies:

The dove was stamped on vellum as above, but colored with more hues and with darker colors. VersaFine Clair Golden Meadow was distressed around the edges of the frame and dredged with Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder to give a little sparkly effect:

The sweet sentiment made me feel good, so that's why it's there giggling - It's on a strip of the same vellum. I love this challenge - always getting me out of my box!

Hope you have time to join us!

WOW Donna these are amazing, so soft and so very pretty. I had originally planned to use a Santa stamp but for some reason I could not get him to work...hmm, maybe later when I have 'more' time (whatever that is) I can try again!! I normally use the gold EB powder when doing this but went with white this time, but I think the gold is a MUCH better choice...these cards certainly are beautifully!!

These are stunning Donna! I love that beautiful image and all of the blue, the edges are gorgeous! Regarding your question on my post this morning, I used several tiny dots of multi medium matte to attach my vellum. Thanks for reminding me, I've added that step to my post :)

My sweet friend this card hits all of my happy buttons! I love the embossing, the colored vellum and the gorgeous palette! What a stunning creation. I'm doing the Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge and have three more days of coloring to do. I shall color some vellum before it's done!!! :) Hugs, Autumn

Donna, truly two of your most beautiful cards ever! I absolutely ADORE the stamp and I remember seeing you use it before. In fact, I pinned it then and I'm pinning it now. I looked up the pin from before... back in 2013, a Valentine. These cards are exquisite!!

Oh Donna, these are both just gorgeous, I have this on my list to do, I even bought some heat resistant vellum for it but I will have to say that sparkle in your vellum is a gorgeous background. I love both cards, the second with the darker coloring is my favorite, I do love the gold powder around the squares too, frames it just lovely! Good to see you posting again, hope you are well :)

The gold with the aqua and the blue is just stunning. What a beautiful stamp.
I remember that technique and the first time I saw it demonstrated at a stamp show. Things change so quickly in the stamping world and you forget the techniques you loved and left behind.........thanks for the reminder. Beautiful cards as always, Donna.

WOW, Donna! Stunningly beautiful! I have forgotten about coloring vellum on the back side and how marvelously you can heat emboss on it. You've inspired me to dig out some of the remaining few rubber stamps I own and try this again. :-D
