My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Black and White and one other color

Happy New Year to my dear blogging buddies! I hope 2022 is especially good to each and every one of you, and your families, too. Allsorts Challenge  has a theme of Black and White and one other color theme this time. From my unfinished box, I've finally completed two partially-made items  - both using Red Tones as the 3rd color.

Both cards contain designer papers adhered on red cardstock in a triangle format, given by a friend during a stamping get together (years ago). Two unique images were selected - both utilize heat embossing on all images. It was fun using old border punches and old dies - neglected but loved all the same. Because I have trouble making traditional A2 cards, I used the A2 backings, and embellished with shapes and borders.

The Paula's Best Dress is an old, old, old, never-before-been-used (at least 15 years?) stamp, embossed in white detail powder, and enhanced a bit with a quickie glue pen and sparkling red glitter:

One of my all time favorite stamps, and one I never tire of using, is the Inkadinkadoo carousel horse:

Stamped with Nocturne Versafine Clair (my favorite stamping ink), and heat embossed with clear detail EP, the horse was colored with distress inks and colored pencils blended with gamsol.

Thanks for visiting! And thanks to Allsorts Challenge  for the inspiration!

So pleased to see a post from you Donna, not just because you have joined in at Allsorts which is wonderful, but because I noticed before Christmas you hadn't posted since early October, so I am happy to see you on both fronts.

Two striking cards and the pops of red against the black and white work beautifully plus the hints of glitter on the dress card a perfect addition.

Lovely to see you at Allsorts, thank you and wishes for a good 2022, let's hope it's a kinder year to the whole World.

Oh Donna so good to see you posting again your beautiful creations. Isn't it funny how we can let so many years go by before we use a crafty item, but they come out just when they are needed. These are fabulous, I really love the horse one. Great use of those dies and punches too!
I am glad you posted I was worried something was wrong when you didn't answer my message on messenger.
Take care

Happy New Year, Donna! These are 2 fabulous cards, I somlove this horse, I remember it from previous projects, you always make something stunning with it. I also fancy that more than a decade old unused dress. Cards with limited colors look really nice.

So good to see you posting these two really pretty cards Donna. Great to use older dies/punches etc too. They both are so striking with the dramatic black and white and then the pop of red. Loved the sentiment on the dress and that ever so pretty carousal x. Here's to a Healthy and Crafty 2022 Donna x.

Head-turningly gorgeous cards. Red, white and black is a perpetual favourite colour palette for me and one that I wear more days than not during the winter months (and to a degree, the whole year through).

Your awesome designs never fail to inspire and delight me, and these two beauties are no exception.

It feels good to finish up those things that have been sitting for a while, doesn't it? Also to use a not yet used stamp plus a favorite oldie. I remember you using the carousel horse before and it's gorgeous every time. These colors are great for it and your designs for both cards are fabulous. It was good talking with you today, Donna.

Donna, both of your cards are absolutely lovely. Red, white and black is one of my favourite colour combos - always very dramatic, don't you think? Beautifully done, my friend. I'm so glad to see that you're back to crafting, hopefully this means that you're feeling better. Look forward to your next project.
Enjoy your day.
