My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Lilacs celebrating new Inspiration Station Challenge!

Yippee! It's time for a new Inspiration Station Challenge! Because my fumble fingers have not been cooperative, I am playing with more of the Nitwit digital products I've purchased... these cards are made with Lilac Blossoms Digital Set. Having been an avid rubber stamper for 30 years, it feels like I'm cheating by using such great digital sets.

The inspiration board this time: PSST! Remember! It's entirely YOUR take as to what inspires you - it could be emotional, thematic, color, texture. What inspires you today?

Parts of these are digitally layered, and other parts are traditionally put together.

First, the composition was digitally arranged to my liking. Certain components were copy-and-pasted separately, so they could be fussy cut and popped up for dimension. That way, a "map" will show me exactly where to pop up the individual pieces:

Buttons were actually sewn in place on top of the digital button.

The dark green button has been heat embossed with matching EP:

Distressed edges are heat embossed with a powder that contains fine mica:

I like the little purple dots in the card base:

A pale green Copic Marker was used on the Mother-of-Pearl button to give it a bit of a green tint. Because Copics are transparent, the Mother-of-Pearl still shows through the coloring:

Hope you will drop by and play in the Inspiration Station Challenge
!

Products Used:

Dies: SB Grand Scallop Squares and SB Scallop Squares (small border)

Digitals by Nitwit Designs Lilac Blossoms Digital Set.

I'm playing in the following fun challenge:

Incy Wincy Designs Challenges (thru April 18) Borders and/or Bright colors 4/19

Spring Time Hugs,

Super cards Donna, fabulous digital sets, lovely colours and I don't think it is cheating at all. I love to play with papers, digital or not, you can still add your own touches and design and I do love a bit of fussy cutting.
Sorry to hear that your fingers are not cooperating at the moment.

These are stunning Donna and you are so good on the computer I would of never guessed these were digi's. Like the colors and how you added dimension to your lovely cards! It makes me happy to see you up to crafting!

You make such stunning cards designs. The layers you plan and execute are thoughtful and lovely. The tiny blooms on the flower make it look real. As usual, I love your card.

Awww Donna, I too felt at first that it was cheating using digital images and store bought ephemera when creating but I know how much fun I have playing with it all that I decided that it is creating no matter how much effort we put into it, the main thing is we are having fun creating for someone and they will in turn know that we are thinking of them!
I have never tried embossing a button, wow that turned out so cool, I like the touch the copic made to the mother of pearl button too! Love the lilac with that green, just lovely!

I know what you mean. I have done some digital 12x12 scrapbook pages for framing. BUT they always come out beautifully just like your cards! Love the images and your pretty design. Aren't those colors just a fabulous Spring combo? Beautiful!

I do believe I actually have this set from nitwits. What a splendid idea to oversee a real button over the top. Your card is most certainly not cheating. Hugs Mrs A.

Donna, your cards are lovely. I am so pleased to see that you have found a way to still create. Using digital images are definitely not cheating, they don't arrange themselves. Your creative expertise is still needed and is clearly visible in your beautiful creations here. Love all the little details you have added with the embossing and copic tinting.
Hugs Monica

I love this card you have created and beautiful digital images too. I too felt it was cheating but since my fingers don't always want to cooperate anymore I still get the feeling of creating a lovely card with the digis. So I am content now to use them more often.

What a fun time you've had making these! I know you, heat embossing wins over coloring every time heeheehee. Well, we might as lol about it, I too have been slowly surrendering to colored digis, especially when the image is small. And I just got a new inkjet printer that is awesome, so there's even more reason to print instead of stamp. Still, I try not to completely go to the digi side, too much rubba round here to ignore. ;-) Hope you had a nice Easter and are doing well! XOX

Not cheating. We do what we can and it takes talent and an artist's eye to put it all together this beautifully. I look and admire, and love every detail, Donna!

These are beautiful, Donna! What a lovely color palette you have chosen. You have done wonderful work with the digis. The real buttons are a fabulous addition. Wonderful work as always!

The digital designs are gorgeous, and I love how you've made them so dimensional. The spring colors of white, green and lilac are especially fresh and pretty. You've done some amazing work using digi-s and one would never know (at least this one!) that this is a digital design, not a stamped one. So beautiful, Miss Donna. TFS & Hugs

This is really lovely Donna! I have some Nitwit papers, but I've not got round to printing them out yet (surprise - not) I love how you've used the real button and sewn it in place, the little touches make all the difference. I'm notified by e-mail on the blogs that I follow too, so I shall have to look into this, thanks for the heads-up. Take care and have a very happy week, Sue xx
