A note to my panhandle friends - please stay safe from Hurricane Michael. I hope you do not suffer loss or too much discomfort.
Hurricane Michael passed to our west today - monster storm that even effected our weather - keeping the temperatures lower, but the humidity higher than usual, making the "feel like" temperatures pretty icky. We only suffered gusty winds and a tad of rain, thank goodness.
Hoping everyone else is doing well - and that you are enjoying a happy crafting week!

Like many guys, my husband loves old trucks, old cars, old tractors - it's that guyish nostalgic thing. His birthday is next week, so he's getting a monochromatic old truck card from the I Love Old Trucks set.
The image and sentiment were heat embossed with Timber Opaque EP. It's a dark embossing powder that shows its highlights when the light hits it.
The image and sentiment were heat embossed with Timber Opaque EP. It's a dark embossing powder that shows its highlights when the light hits it.
While Timber Opaque EP is a dark brown, it shows up beautifully against the darker colors (like tires) in the image:
After "watercoloring" the image with distress inks, Tombow markers and Prismacolor pencils, a VersaMarker Pen was used on the windows and headlights, and then dredged with a light coating of Clear Detail EP. This heightened the bluish-grey tone of the glass, but allowed the textured blending paper to still shown through, kind of like "old glass".
On a Personal Note:
Could the sun have been any more spectacular yesterday morning? It's like Mother Nature is saying, "Have a Rainbow Kind of Day".
After pausing a few moments to look out over the pastures and talking to my ever-present feline companion, I turned to go indoors. The heat (93F-33C) and humidity (90%+) are still heavy, and well... I'm a wimp! But then, two tiny hummingbird moths greeted me, as well! My bright pink nightie likely attracted them and they continually tried to "taste me". Soon they were busy pollinating the "dregs" of this summer's coleus, pentas and periwinkle flowers. They were quite diligent and only a foot or two away! I was able to capture one quick shot (see the arrow?) click for a larger photo:
Here's a better photo from the internet. Aren't those wings incredible?
Sigh - I love mornings!

What a beautiful card for your hubby, Donna!! And happy birthday to him!! I love the colors you used for the truck and the way you framed it!! It looks absolutely amazing!! I love the grass you added to the bottom corner, too!!
Wow, what a stunning sky!! I'm so glad you didn't get hit with Michael, but prayers for those who did. I've never heard of a hummingbird moth!! It's so gorgeous!! Wow!! We still have hummingbirds hanging around here which is totally unusual this late in October...plus, the weren't fed while I was away. I did fill the feeders full before I left thinking they would need fuel to fly south, but they hung around instead :) I hope you have a wonderful Thursday, Donna!! Big hugs :)

So pleased the storm passed you by without any damage, have been watching the news on TV and some of the damage has been horrendous! These terrible storms seem to be getting stronger and more frequent.

What a wonderful masculine card! I love the truck and they way you colored it! The frame die you used around it is gorgeous and I love that aged to perfection sentiment! That is a perfect card for any man lucky enough to receive it! I can't believe the hummingbird moths were trying to taste you! I have had them in my yard over the years but they never get that close to me! I have tried to catch a photo, but no luck! Have a great evening and I am glad you are safe from the hurricane!
First let me say that I'm thrilled to know that the storm passed by you! Glad to know you are safe! For this card Donna, I just LOVE it! It's a perfect masculine image for sure and I just love the details you've added to it with the frame and shimmery etails! The sprig of grass in front adds a wonderful dimension to it too! I think a few males in my family would really enjoy this for sure! :)
That sky looks incredible and sure wish I could've seen it! Your photos are always amazing and I thank you for sharing a bit about yourself! :) HUGS
What a beautiful card and I love the die used to frame that old truck image. And, I am so glad you shared your sunrise. That photo in itself is an inspiration.
Fun birthday card! Thanks for joining us at Always Happy Birthday.
What a fabulous masculine card for your hubby, I especially like the windshield! Enjoyed the photos. Glad you are safe, praying for those that were affected by the hurricane.
Donna,
Everything about this card is incredible! I love the embossing you did and your coloring on the truck and the windows is marvelous. Great die cut frame and the grasses are a wonderful touch.
Lovely photo of the morning sky and your yard, even if the moth your were trying to capture turned out rather small. That you captured him at all is fabulous. :-D
My husband's birthday is the 20th and he's getting an old truck card, too. Not a cool stamp like this, but a die. Hope it turns out. We all have birthdays in October! Your rendition of the truck is beautiful with the faded color and glossed over glass. Speaking of beautiful... that sunset is gorgeous! I've never seen such a moth before. I do believe they can be as beautiful as the butterflies. Your garden still looks quite lovely to me. Have been watching the news of how Michael hit the panhandle and my eyes tear up at the devastation. My home is very important to me and I can't imagine my whole town being destroyed.
Fantastic male card Donna, love the stamp and wonderful colours.
We have had really bad winds in the UK today.
Hugs Pam x
Wonderful card- I love the truck- what guy wouldn't love this awesome card! Great dies and love the colors too!
A very Happy Birthday to your hubby, he is certainly going to love this, terrific coloring and like how you framed it, and the added grass die cut, neat touch with the glass.
Wow that sunset is awesome! I am so glad you did ok through the hurricane, I have seen the destruction on tv. We have had similar moths around our house but I didn't know what they were.
Have a great weekend!
Wow very nice card - love the image and soft colorings - thanks for sharing the lovely photos.
My DH loves old trucks too, and what a stunning effort you've done on the exquisite watercoloring of this vintage model! It looks like an old faded rusting one, that you might see in a country barn. The fancy frame is unexpected with the image, but is perfect! Your hubby will love this one too, and of course, the sweet sentiment. Enjoyed seeing the pictures of your lovely sunset and the plants. Hope the humidity has eased, and glad that you didn't get more of the worst part of Michael. The Panhandle sure got some terrible devastation. TFS & Big hugs. (I hope you got the envelope!)
I love the beautiful simplicity of this card!! From your treatment to the windows to the simple water coloring!! Plus, that hummingbird moth is amazing!! I love it when nature greets with a kiss!! Hope your day is happy and thanks for sharing your sparkle with us all at PIP Challenges!!

I love your card! You did agreat job with the truck's windows! Also your photos are beautiful.
WOW, I love what you did with this old truck. Amazing coloring and the glass is just awesome. Something about an old pickup........
The devastation in Florida is awful. I simply don't know how folks can cope after seeing everything in their homes just gone in a blink of an eye. Feeling broken-hearted for them.
Hugs
Sue
Love the masculinity of this and that little touch of orangish color which makes the card have that wonderful bit of Fall to it.
That image is spectacular! I love how you framed it in and added your special little accents! That sky looks like a beautiful painting, aren't we lucky to notice such things!
Awesome card Donna! Love it! I was so surprised when I saw my first hummingbird moth... i didn't know they existed! They are so amazing! I'd love your heat! We are soo windy and cold at the moment and the furnace isn't working ( repairman coming next week) Snow was sticking in some of our local areas.
I believe I’d have my struggles coloring this image. You did it beautifully. Great idea to frame it like you did and just add a sentiment, for a masculine vintage style card.
Super duper male card. Such a cute car and perfect sentiment.
Lovely sunrise - magical to be precise.
