My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

White on White with Retro Rubber!

Welcome, blogging friends! Hope you and yours are healthy and safe.
Today's card share is one of my all time favorites I think!
(are we allowed to say that about our own cards? giggle)

I am swooning in delight to guest design for:
Loving those old stamps!

It's always a pleasure seeing new twists put to old rubber.
This is one of my favorite challenges because my old rubber finally sees the light of day and emerges very HAPPILY! Try new techniques with your old rubber.

The theme this time is "White Out!"

I am featuring an old, old wood stamp that was gifted to me (but has never seen ink) circa 2002 by a friend whose last name is Berry! So cute since the name of the company is Holly Berry - here is their Facebook Page, and another link to the stamp image called "Garden Maze Medallion" which is available in cling or wood (and a sample from their website).

image close up of my card:

Since the theme is WHITE OUT, I dug out something "new" - English Lace Handmade Paper - this cottony paper boasts deeply embossed imagery so detailed, that you can see the stitching of the eyelet lace. It also has a nice sheen giving the appearance of fabric. In addition, the back side of the paper is absorbent for mixed media applications. Even after running it through the die cut machine a few times for the detailed die cut, you can see how deeply embossed it still is:

The image was stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat embossed with Gold Detail embossing powder, and cut out for dimension.
Check out the sheen on the embossed paper:

Lots of layers:

Dimension to show off the pretty shapes:

Gold Detail embossing powder also frames the base image, while Celestial Glitter (gold with transparent highlights) accents the gold frame. Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen was applied to various parts of the image and dredged with either Celestial Glitter or Starfire Ultrafine Transparent Glitter.

Nuvo Glitter Accents (Aztec Gold and Fresh Snowfall) were applied in the small gold areas and as large dots on two of the layers.

Here's a peek at the texture:

A pretty gold-embossed sentiment from the Botanical Orchids Rubber Stamp Set (also available digitally) helps personalize the creation, tied with white twine to continue the White Out effect:

The Finished Creation:

Thanks for stopping by. How about inking up one of your beloved Oldie but Goodies and playing along? White on White is an easy way to bring an old stamp to life!

Oh WOW! Yes, you are lol I can see why. This. Is. Gorgeous. The white on white theme is a beautiful 'technique' and I just ordered one of those mono sand erasers as I tend to smudge all the white with some ink lol I love your layers, that's a given :) But your design and choice of stamps and cutting and sparkle is AMAZING!!!!

Oh. My. Word. Fantastic, Donna! The gold with the white and all the texture and dimension... sigh... I think this is one of the best challenges and I haven't played in it for quite a while. When you make something this gorgeous you really wonder what took you so long to get around to using the stamp, right? This is just exquisite, the sentiment is perfect, and, ohhhh, that paper!

We got another light and fluffy snowfall this week and I took over a thousand photos outside! I finally found the Chickadees, just a few degrees warm up in the weather, and they came flocking out from their hiding spots!! I just can't get enough of this wonderful winter we are having. Hope you are having good weather, sending hugs :)

Hi Donna, Happy New Year. Yes, indeed you are allowed to have a favorite of your own cards! This one might be mine as well. (but then next time that one will be!) I love, love this wonderful lace paper. Don't think I've seen or heard of this before, so thanks for including a link. This is a beautifully designed medallion and I like your idea to cut it apart to create the gorgeous dimension. Of course the gold & the glitters with all that wonderful white...oh my. What's not to like. Also like the framework layering too. You do that so well. TFS & Hope all has been well for you so far in 2018. And that you're staying warm. I know your area had some frostiness! Brr. TFS & Have a super weekend. Hugs

Thanks for the snowball, Donna! Wow! I can see why your STUNNING card is your favorite! I have to agree! Words are escaping me, but I have to say my jaw dropped to the floor when I opened your blog. So much to delight in--the shimmer, the gorgeous layering, the lace paper (squeal!) and the lovely white on white with touches of gold! Perfectly elegant is what it is! I'm so happy you shared your process and links. (I visited them all and have found some things I will need to add to my wish list! Downsize, my foot!) I have some old OUTLINES stamps that are similar, and have never seen the light of day. I just may have to give this idea a try! Sending warm hugs! (And lots of rain!)

I love white on white cards, especially when they are touched with gold!
Wow, I remember these stamps, and have some too. I recently parted with some though. Lots of fussy cutting to get to this beautiful card you have created. Love the eyelet paper too. Beautiful layers. Need to look and see what I saved of these stamps. I have also been using some of my old stamps.
Gorgeous card with lots of love put into it, as always, Donna.

Beautiful make the white on white is so elegant. I also had that stamp but not sure what happened to it. Probably lent it out and never got it back.
