My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

Pretty Pastels {Cardz 4 Galz}

Greetings to one and all! (smile) Welcome to my little blog home.
I have boo-boo's to share - can you find them?

Time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz Challenges today!

Badges are awarded for the Spotlight Winner and Top Picks.
Challenge #53 is chosen by teamie Helen -and the theme is:

  PRETTY PASTELS

show us your Pastel Paper Crafting projects using any technique and medium!
Challenge ends on August 16th.

My card shares today are the results of experiments gone awry.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself during the process!

Card Size 8 inches x 4 inches (Business Size Card)

This is actually an easy card to make, but it might take a little time:

Boo Boo Number One:

A Happy Accident:

Boo Boo Number Two

Bubbling plastic-coated brads:

Either way, the Boo Boos made things better (in my humble opinion):

It brings me great happiness to use any mediums in my stash - especially those which have been neglected:

And now a second card using the Saran Wrap Technique.

The background was made on some icky cardstock I didn't like by painting on two colors of luscious
Jacquard Lumiere Paints 573 Pearl Magenta and 561 Metallic Pearl Gold. While the paints were still wet, a sheet of saran wrap (plastic wrap) was placed on top, and then I crinkled the wrap atop the paint a bit.

Here is a YouTube video with the technique - you can get the idea in the first 2 minutes of the video.

(I changed the lighting so you could get an idea about the sparkle and shine, below:)

Now create the flowers and dragonfly:

Products Used (for the business size card):

Sparkle N Sprinkle:
  • SB Fleur de Lis Shapeabilties Pendant S4-204
  • SB Scallop Labels One
  • SB Carnation Flower
  • SB Adorning Squares S4-389
  • MS Double Arch Deep Edge
  • Cottage Cuts Button Flower Mini
  • Lavender and White cardstock, assorted brads
Products Used (for the square card):

Wow, wow, wow!! Donna both of these cards are beautiful, but that second card took my breath away! I love the colors, and all the little extras you put into these cards! I have some of that Nuvo Mousse that I bought at a store but I haven't used it yet! I think you just inspired me to go open that jar! Love your cards Donna!

It's always such a pleasure to study your work filled with dies and glitter. Your style is very unique and very different from my own. The booboos don't show, it might not have turned out as you'd planned originally, but it doesn't make your art any less pretty.

well I don't know what you mean with boo boo's but I loved your cards they are very beautiful with fab dies and designs.

I have sent this morning the ribbons Donna.

WOW! Now that's what I call card making! You're so adventuresome with your techniques you can't help but have the occasional boo boo, but what gorgeous results! Absolutely beautiful cards full of texture and delight and fabulous sparkle and sheen. Looking at your supply list... way to use your stuff! Let no product sit untried (as in my stamp room). I've never seen such a pretty Saran wrap background. And all those wonderful dies. Also, no sentiments so now they're ready for anything. I need more sentiment-free cards. What a wonderful, information-filled post, Donna!

Oh, my goodness, Donna! What a wonderful set of creative cards! I love that idea with the plastic wrap and the sparkly paint. So have to give this a try! I'm curious about how you photographed your gorgeous glittery frame. (I am working on a post with lots of sparkle, and of course, it all gets lost in the photography!) Boo boos are good, especially when you make them! I've make boo boo #2 before! Ha!Ha! Well, gotta go for now! Have a great weekend! Hugs!
