The theme is "SPLAT! (paints, inks, sprays - whatever medium brings SPLAT to mind) and using any die manufacturer which Scrapy Land sells" (electronic die cuts do not qualify). Scrapy Land sells over 40 brands of dies, including overseas products, and most are at a discount.

My cards feature the following Scrapy Land dies.
(for all the dies used, please see the product list at bottom of post)
The same acrylic paint technique was used on a Halloween card here.
THE TECHNIQUE:
I was going to make two flat cards and one full of froufrou - honest I was!
But
I made the card below for fellow blogging friend Paula of "Look, I'm Stamping".
Although we frequently Skype, the card was hand-delivered when we met in person at the Stampfest by the Bay Convention 2 weeks ago.
Paula is on the right with beautiful red hair, sparkly eyes and a gorgeous smile.
BUT
I couldn't contain myself - flowers were crying out to be created!
(love the Chloe Stem by Memory Box - it brings happiness and pleasant curves to floral projects)
TIP:
When heat embossing on surfaces like this, be sure to use an anti-static bag of some sort (like Embossing Buddy) prior to stamping the image, otherwise the textures will grab some of the EP.
Did you notice that the Border Duo 2 and Catalina Border have been layered and heat embossed?
TIP:
The following card is my favorite because of the Amethyst colors:
A tiny jewel peeks out of the arrangement:
I still love how the Pearl EP slightly changes the Catalina Border here. It is the same cardstock as the frames, but heat embossed. The Catalina Border is versatile - use it as a border, or cut it up.

Scrapy Land Marvelous Squares (Majestic Elements) S4-383 by Spellbinders Scrapy Land Luscious Labels One (Nestabilities) S4-426 by Spellbinders Scrapy Land Bitty Blossoms S5-086 by Spellbinders Scrapy Land Chloe Stem by Memory Box Scrapy Land Catalina Border (floral) MBD98123 by Memory Box Scrapy Land Border Duo 2 by Impression Obsession |
THE TECHNIQUE:
SPLAT! technique:
Two pieces of glossy cardstock (white or colored), glossy side up.
Squirt, drizzle or drop colors of acrylic paint onto ONE of the pieces of cardstock.
Carefully place the other glossy CS shiny side down onto the paint, so that the paint becomes the filling in your “sandwich”. Lightly slide the 2 pieces about 1/4 - 1/2 inch against each other so that the paint is moved around a bit.
Set sandwich down onto flat surface.
Using BOTH hands, firmly hold the same corner on both pieces and pull apart. Set wet papers paint-side UP to dry.
NOTE: Pearlized and Metallic acrylic paints provide the most interesting effects. If using glitters or beads to paints prior, add them to the paints prior to application AS SHOWN BELOW.
The interior of this card uses two of the borders from the IO Border Duo 2.

My goodness, DE, this is spectacular work. The first thing I noticed when I opened your blog was the light coming off the dark colors on the card to the right. I was wondering how you achieved that. I have had several looks at your post and can't get enough. WOW!!!!!!I don't have any of the pearlized or metallics in my acrylic paints so I will need to remedy that.
Thanks for a fabulous post today. And, I really like your new header.

Oooh, so many helpful tips and hints! I am especially excited to try the translucent heat embossing on solid cardstock to give it sheen and contrast! This technique with the acrylic paints and SMOOSH method is a new one to me as I've only done this with dye inks. The effect is so unique with those pearlized paints! Wow!
This is a true wowser Donna. I haven't used this technique in years so a huge thank you for reminding me about it. A real stunning make.
