My blog is called "Creative Smiles" because my designs are the result of incorporating mistakes. With fumble fingers that drop whatever they are holding - repeatedly, it takes a lot of giggles, smiles and creative patience during my crafting process. xx

A Share, A Question, and a Sneak Peek

Hello, dear blogging friends.
I need to share a little change in my life to prevent possible misunderstandings.

So my "SHARE" is:

Fortunately, I do not have Alzheimers or traditional Dementia.
But the not so good news is that my symptoms and abilities are unexpectedly worsening rather quickly.

Some of the decreases in ability are not being able to follow directions, poor logic, hand-eye coordination, speech, and incorrect visual interpretations.

Blessedly, Jack is wonderfully patient. I need to accept this “new plateau”.

My concern: that my friends might think I’m uncaring or unfriendly by not commenting on blogs as often as I like.

So this "sharing" is not for pity or sympathy, but just an explanation because you deserve to know why I'm not commenting as often as I used to.

Thanks for listening.

NOW, my "QUESTION" is:

Remember in the olden days when we used to put a piece of unboiled pasta into salt shakers and spices to prevent caking from humidity? Or sometimes, uncooked rice was put into the salt and pepper shakers for the same reason.
Do you think that might work with embossing powders and glitters?

And my SNEAK PEEK, of course, is at the left (giggle) for Wednesday's Scrapy Land's Challenge post.

Thanks for being there, dear ones.
hugs,

Oh Donna, I'm so sorry to hear that you are having worsened health issues again. Let's hope that it is just a "glitch" for a little time. Prayers for you and Jack at this time. Keep positive that everything will improve again, which I'm sure it will. "Maybe" on the rice! Try it and let us know what happens, it seems to be a very logical idea. Your sneak peak looks awesome. The tree is gorgeous! Can't wait till Wednesday! Big warm hugs, Shona

Dearest Donna. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Take each day at a time and marvel in the tiniest blessing even if that is only to be able to be creative. Keep on making the best of that amazing talents of yours, which is so evident in this gorgeous sneak peek. Rice in embossing powders should do the trick. It sounds like you have an amazing life partner in Jack.

Prayers are with you my friend. I hope that in time things will improve for you. And, yes, I remember that trick for removing moisture, so I think it might be worth trying.

(((Donna))) I am sending positive healing thoughts and huge hugs.

I am fairly new to your blog, so don't know your problem, but as you have the Fibromyalgia and CFS ribbons on your blog I assume you have them. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and probably CFS (so doctor said), so can sympathise a bit. I hope the phase you are going through soon changes for the better. Remember to pace yourself.

Cab't help with the question about embossing powders.

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

You have left me speechless Donna, I am so so sorry that you are suffering yet more medical issues.

I know like myself, all your blog friends will understand how things are with you. I too am a spasmodic blogger so understand totally, we can only do what we can and when we feel able.

I see I missed a post below with some beautiful cards and in a colourway that I adore.

Sending love and hugs.

And yes, that pata/rice thing does work with embossing powders and the like. I actually bought some a while ago - afraid don't remember the make and they had a tiny sachet of rice in them.

Happy healing thoughts coming your way Donna. And yes, this Florida humidity is hard on EP but not so much on glitter, I have noticed.

Oh, my, Donna, I am so sorry things have gone downhill for you, my friend. I think of you often. Commenting on blogs should be the last thing on your mind, even though I know it is something you enjoy. You are as sweet as ever, always thinking of others. Please take care of yourself, take one day at a time, and I will continue to include you in my prayers. Prayers do work!

Hugs and prayers, Donna. Hope your good days outnumber your bad. As for your question, I bet it would probably work. Another thought is those little silica gel packets that come in some products (purses come to mind....hmmm). They keep moisture out of things, so if you come across any save them to use.

So sorry to hear this news Donna. My thoughts are with you both sweetie. I hope that it is a glitch and things will soon get better and pass. You are in my prayers Hun.

If you do put embossing powder in the salt pots make sure you don't sprinkle it on your food. Lol!!!

Donna,

You are such a sweet and precious person. I am so sorry to hear abt your health. You are in my prayers as you adjust to some new challenges.

All your bloggy friends completely understand if you can't post or comment, at times. We each have our own life issues we deal with daily...and sometimes they pull us away from our blogs and our bloggy friends. Thanks for sharing with us so we can reach out in love and concern.

Your sneak peek is tantalizing! Love the layered die cut tree!!!

Hugs and prayers!

I am so sorry to hear about your worsening symptoms and thank you for sharing them with us. Please don't feel like you are letting anyone down by not commenting regularly on everyone's blog because the beauty that you share on your own blog is more than enough for me! I hope that you are able to accommodate those health changes and still find joy in creating your works of art and sharing them with us. For a crafter, such as yourself, visual and coordination problems are certainly a trial so above all, be forgiving of yourself. Take care and know that prayers are sent your way.

Oops, forgot to say that the rice sounds like a good idea for embossing powder and glitter to me. I have not had a problem with clumping EP, but I do know that some of my old EP doesn't plump up all nice and glossy anymore and I wonder if that is caused by humidity? I like the idea of saving those little silica gel packs that come in purses (and in lots of medication bottles) to pop in with our clumpy supplies!

You know how I feel about you so I won't put it here
I am wondering if the little silicon thingy in pill bottles would help in EP powders????Huuummmmmmm
?Can't wait to see more of that peek,,,,,,,,,,,Lis

Donna, I don't know what to say or think, other than I hope the worsening stops and your condition improves. I have no idea what you're up against, but I do know you must be as amazing as I think you are to manage as well as you do and to, in fact, excel at what you do. My heart and my thoughts are with you.

Donna, I am so sorry to hear that things are getting worse. Please remember my offer to help is still available to you and will always be. I will be praying for you even harder now. You are the dearest person ever.

Now because I know you don't want to dwell on the sad stuff, I will answer your question. That actually might work. So far, I haven't had clumping with either the powder or glitter, but that may be due to where I live. In high humidity areas, that sounds like a great idea.
