Sooo... What's My Name?

Isn't this little Besties Girl darling?

When my friend Lis recently broke her leg, I asked if Sherri Baldy could please create a Besties character with a cast so I could make a card for Lis. This little darling is the result!

Isn't she delightful?
AND
a mess, too!

(Thank You, Sherri!)

Sherri has a FaceBook contest to name this little darling. Click here and scroll down to the image for the details. There are some great name suggestions!

For the time being, she could be Crutch Girl, but that sounds so impersonal.

I will call her Limping Lis until a proper name can be given her. (smile)

Lis is known in the Florida Stampers as the Paper Maker because she makes her own paper.

To personalize Lis' card, I used some of her own "Velvet Fabric" paper (it's the fuzzy pink layer, and what the flowers are made of).

The card is also very GREEN -- for Earth Day -- and -- because Lis is a Master Gardener.

Click here to buy this adorable little Get Well Besties!

My card uses the sketch from Fetch a Sketch Challenge:

The photo below shows the rich texture of Lis' handmade velvet paper.

Soooo... what's her name? Feel free to share your imaginative names in a comment below for an additional chance to win my April blog candy. (being a follower is not necessary - though I love it if you do - and I will do everything possible to contact you through blogger or you may send me your e-mail address - if you win).

Three ribbons were combined with my awesome Craft-dee Bowz tool to create a bow similar to the one in Limpin' Lis' hair and crutch.

The buttons are stitched to their flowers, and the poke a dotted paper is also stitched around the edges.

A snapshot of the interior, using the plush Velvet Fabric hand-made paper again.

Thank you very much for stopping by today. Hope you enjoyed this latest little Besties. Now you know the story of how she came to be, too!

My Get Well card is entered in the following wonderful challenges:

  1. ABC All Beautiful Cards - #25 Recycle (the pink layers and flowers are hand-made paper made from recycled paper scraps and pink velvet fabric)
  2. Artistic Inspirations - #38 - Card for a Lady (card is for my dear girlfriend who broke her leg)

Hi Donna! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I think you're coloring is great -- I've found that with Copics less is more and confidence helps! Glossy Accents is so fun to use and is a great adhesive too; you want to let it dry completely before sending it, but when I use it as an adhesive I can handle it after 20 minutes or so. Depends how thick it is; if I'm covering some with a layer of it, I let it dry at least overnight. Thanks for being such a great Feline Playful teamie too! Best, CG

Limpin' Lis it should be Donna, and you've done her great justice. From the coloring of the sweet image to each and every detail of your embellies and stitched papers. I love the texture of the velvet paper - you can see from the photos how it must feel.

Hi Donna,
How thoughtful of you to ask Sherri to create this special character for Lis. That is so sweet and this image is adorable. I love your bright and cheery colours - they will sure help Lis heal faster. The bow is sooooo pretty and the sewn buttons and flowers look lovely.
Thanks, Donna for the suggestion on my last card.
I am going to answer your email soon. I am spending all my free time making cards for the bazaar.
You are the sweetest,
Monica with love and hugs

My vote for her name is Gimpy Gretta!!! lol She is a pretty thang! I just love the colors you used. So bright and cheerful. The two greens are so appealing to me and I love the polka-dot paper. I can't believe you had the patience to sew those buttons-they look marvelous. The purple bling looks like it was made especially to blend in with the flourishes. I know you friend will enjoy this card very much and just for a moment will forget her unfortunate accident. Such a fun card-love it!

Hallo liebe Donna,

Lis must feel like the most special girl ever! Makes that broken leg feel not quite so bad, now. Such wonderful colors and design. Beautiful coloring, too! Broken Betty, Wounded Wanda... I like Limpin' Lis best, though. I like how you shaded around the image in blue and then sponged the edges in the pretty purpley pink. The soft homemade paper is gorgeous. Love the greens and tiny polka dots. Your cards are always such a delight!

What super bright fun colors you used for this darling custom made image! Despite the fact that the girl is sporting a cast, you have made this card a joy to look at! Pretty details and love the shape. Just gorgeous!

This is one of the cutest cards (and images) that I have seen in a long time! Since we raised a granddaughter (Liz--who is now almost 21) and also had a broken leg, I think "Limping Liz" is the perfect name for this image. I LOVE it! Thanks for playing in the Critter Sketch Challenge.

OMGosh! What a fabulous image Sherri created for you! I love the little flowers on her cast. Beautiful card! The colours are so fun and the velvet paper is gorgeous. Beautiful details.

As you already know, I am horrible at coming up with names, but I really like Limping Lis - it is perfect that she should be named after your friend who inspired her.

I love the colours that you have chosen for the card and love the shape and the interior. I think the name you have chosen is quite apt - Limpin' Lis'. Take care.
