Fairy Tangles All Dressed Up {Cardz 4 Galz Glad Rags}

Hello, Sweet Blogging Friends!

Here in Florida, we are approaching the end of our "wild-fire season".
Ending in June with the beginning of Hurricane Season, the fires are a necessary part of the ecology in Florida. While unpleasant smokiness occurs, depending which way the wind blows - and the winds change frequently, good things happen as a result of the fires.
Presently, in our county, we have a large woodland fire near the coast caused by lightning, that firefighters have been battling for a week. After the fire, lush growth begins anew, seedlings pop up everywhere, and critters emerge from their protective dens and return from neighboring refuges.

On to crafty things:

Beginning today at Cardz 4 Galz Challenges we have a Fabulous, Fun, Fashionable theme!

Badges are awarded for the Spotlight Winner and Top Picks.

Challenge #45 is chosen by teamie Julie -and the theme is:  HANDBAGS AND GLAD RAGS.  Show us your cards using any and all manner of purses and/or fashionable wear!
Challenge ends on April 26.

I'm using the last of some Fairy Tangle images I purchased a few years ago and had never used.
This fashionista positively flows in her garb! She is staged against sequin cardstock which sparkles colorfully against the flashing lights of fashion photographers!

She is colored with Copic Markers - I think my favorite images to color are the fantasy style images which favor any colors my heart desires!

I was inspired by the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Sketch:

It is always a pleasure seeing your artful treasures,
so please come play with us at

Wow Donna, this is stunning, the coloring (and colors) are gorgeous..wow~wow!! I love the entire design and wish I were skinny enough to wear a dress like that lol! I drove over the state line in Indiana yesterday (from Michigan) and there was a big grass fire going, but it seemed to be under control, good thing as there were two beautiful homes in-between! Take care!!

Donna, first of all I'm glad you are safe and the fires aren't going to reach you. I love your coloring on this image. How you can get so much dimension to such tiny areas on the skirt is unbelievable. I absolutely love how you did the shading in pinks around the image though. That looks like it took a lot of time right there. Such a beautiful card and gorgeous colors.

You colored the image beautifully and she looks great in the jewel-like setting of the sequined card stock. The pretty flower and bow are nice touches, tying into the skirt colors and of course the obligatory bling is the perfect finishing touch. Well done as usual, my friend.

Hi Donna,

I am sending cool energy hoping the fires subside sooner rather than later. I like your philosophical and calm interpretation of it.

Lovely image and that background is so so so sparkly and vibrant.
Super colouring as well.

Donna, not only is your color combo magnificent, so is your coloring! WOW! I'm always a little intimidated by feathers, especially peacock feathers but you've done them exquisitely. Love the glitz and glam and all the sparkle of the sequin paper. What a great idea that was. :-D

Becky said...

She's gorgeous. Those colors play well together, and are some of my favorites.

Whoa, that sequin paper is amazing! And a gorgeous image! If I was a fashionista I'd love to have that dress. There was a time, maybe... Not sure how I'd look wearing it in the garden or out with the dogs, though. Your coloring is always outstanding. I'm with you on the delight of coloring fantasy or fun images where you don't have to be realistic about the colors. Yay for getting around to the last of these images, too. I'm trying to get caught up. I've seen the Florida fires on the news. Yes, Nature sees to the things that need to be done. Sadly, too many fires aren't started by Nature.

Petra Swart said...

So unbelievable that something like fire also plays a very important role in nature, hey Donna!!!! Over here, too, a lot of the plants' seeds need the heat or the smoke of the fire to germinate!!!! And isn't it wonderful to see all the green emerging from the ground after a few days!!! Always just so heartbreaking that fire actually kills some wildlife, too, but that's just how nature works, hey!!!! It always upsets me to think of all the smaller animals and small creatures that can't get away in time and die in a fire!!!!! We don't have a specific wild-fire-season, but most of our fires do happen during the warm summer months and then the winter brings the needed rain for the area to start growing to the full again!!!! Isn't mother nature not wonderful, hey!!!!
And now your card, my friend ...what a wonderful creation you've made, Donna!!! And WOW, aren't that sequin cs not absolutely amazing and so beautiful and her dress is fabulous!!! I love the colours!!!! Gorgeous, my friend!!!!
Wishing you a blessed Easter weekend!!!!

I've always loved the colors of aqua and purple/lavendars combined, so this fairy fashionista is gorgeous to my eyes. Wonderful coloring of those tiny patterns and getting just the right shades side-by-side to look cool & beautiful. Loved the shading you've got in the patterns too. That sparkle-sequin background looks like the flash of light as the photographers are snapping the runway walk too! The sequins look like beach glass. Hope the fires don't cause any stress with the breathing, etc, and don't get too close to your areas. TFS & Happy Easter

Thank you for your lovely comment on my recent post. I'm sad to say my friend I made my card for passed away right after her daughter moved her to Florida to be closer to her. She lived a good long FULL life and was independent at 88 until right before she got sick. Sending hugs! (I hope your air clears soon!)

Living in Florida now and loving it! Have run into several people from old Sparkle Sprinkle days - it's so nice to finally meet and connect a real face with the names! Would love to meet up with you some time! Hugs!
