A new 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge begins today!
Fabrika Fantasy is sponsoring September's challenge, which ends September 30.
A random winner is selected, and a guest designer for the upcoming month is chosen.
How do you like the rhinestone panel behind the die cuts?
Raiding my old stash, I found this rhinestone mesh in just the right color, and cut it just a tad larger so a row of the rhinestones shows up on either side of the Spellbinders die cut. More of my Great Aunt Agnes' Vintage Lace was used on either side as well.
Colored with Copic Markers and Distress Inks, I have surrounded the lovely Pegasus and sentiment with Starfire Ultrafine Glitter to increase the magical feeling of the card.
The two beautiful ornate die cuts are further enhanced with
Nuvo Mother of Pearl Embellishment Mousse.

Embellishment Mousse is one of my favorite "new" products THIS YEAR because of its transformative abilities. It is fast drying (almost as fast as you can apply it) and changes ordinary, cheap cardstock into beautifully pearly-metallic satin! You can dry emboss, die cut, heat emboss, apply glitter - anything you would do with paper - even distress it!
EMBELLISHMENT MOUSSE TIP:
When die cutting very ornate, detailed dies, apply the mousse to the cardstock prior to cutting.
As you can see below, the mousse-covered die cuts adhere easily onto each other. The heat embossed flourish in the top right corner was glued right on top of the moussed die cut.
This card is about as gaudy as it gets! (giggle)

I love critters and, WOW, all the glitter and rhinestones! The mesh background is fantastic. What fun "raiding your stash"! Tee hee! You make me want to go play in my room, and that's exactly what you were doing when you made this card -- playing in your room. You find the most amazing things in your stash, and the way you put them together -- WOW again!

ReplyDeleteMy butterfly I do in animation shop and my background and header I do in Paint shop, it's all a hobby for me. I also made a blog header and background for another blogger recently but it is fiddly doing it for someone else. Took many hours for her to really like what I did. But overall result is lovely and I enjoy playing with plugins and filters in paintshop.
As you know for years I have given on my blog a candy or two to my followers and it's so nice to post them off but I do hate it that I can't give to all of the entries received. It always works out fairly in the end and there is always another candy coming up soon. My dad's anniversary next in a couple of weeks and it will be to 'celebrate his life' with mum in Heaven.

Oh Donna, you just keep wowing me with these beautiful cards, your layering of the dies is just beautiful, let's just say you are the queen of die layering :) I love the rhinestones behind it, never thought of that! The sparkle that you gave to that pegasus, thanks for explaining the mouse, I see these different products and not quite sure how they work, and thanks for the tips also! Gorgeous!

WOW! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the Rhinestone panel behind the die cut....but I don't know if I could use one in this manner, I am New England Frugal after all! lol This is so magical and whimsical and sparkly and pretty! It. Is. Everything! Beautiful colors and design and the layers, simply fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteOh and to answer your glue question: I use a lot of the Tombow Mono Liquid Glue for the intricate (thin) die cuts. They usually have a 2 tip applicator, one end is wide and you can just turn the die over and smear the glue on! Seems to work fine for me.

PS I do have two stamp rooms. Old house, and it was our daughters room. They are connected, and the back room is a dormer added on to the house at some point. And, every inch of both rooms is packed with "my stuff". Need to purge, been stamping for many years and hate to part with anything.....
