Have A Heart - Moving Along With The Times Challenge

Greetings my wonderful blogging friends!
Hoping this finds you well and enjoying yourself.
The inspiration for this project came from Sue Dree's Card.

And now...

It's time to share a Project for the new Moving Along With The Times Challenge!

Challenge #89's theme is HAVE A HEART - for the next 2 weeks upload your creations that feature hearts in one way or the other!

Applying EP after dry embossing:

After dry embossing the blue pearlescent cardstock,
VersaFine Clair Blue Belle ink was "swiped" on top because it so easily covers fine surfaces. Then it was dredged with a semi-transparent embossing power called "Pearl". It looked like an opaque silver until it was heat set, allowing the blue to show through on the pearly finish.

VersaFine Clair Blue Belle ink was "swiped" on top of a piece of plain white die cut heart which had been embossed with the same EF. The same Pearl EP was heat set, which makes it coordinate beautifully with the pearlescent blue cardstock.
I repeated the same technique on the white interior cardstock, using VersaMark. It was more difficult to control because it required firmer "pressure" to apply the ink. So it's distressed (giggle).

Shaping the Leaves:

Spellbinders Foliage die set was used. I cut apart the leaves in Navy cardstock, wet the cuts, pinched the center together, and added a drop of glue.

After the leaves were dry, I coated them with a VersaMarker, dredged with Sparkle Embossing Powder, and heat set. The flourish and cherish dies were done in the same manner.

Tonic Studios "Follow Your Heart" dies is a two piece set. I sprayed adhesive on the back of the white die and laid it atop the navy pearlescent cardstock. Then applied Starfire Glitter. That 3M spray adhesive is strong!

Dies: Cheery Lynn "Cherish" and "Fanciful Flourish" dies, Quickutz "Nesting Hearts" and "Nesting Lace Hearts" dies, Spellbinders Foliage die, Tonic Studios "With Love" and "Follow Your Heart" dies Embossing Folder: Die'sire Embossalicious EF Rose Vine 8x8, Inks: VersaFine Clair Blue BelleVersaMark Ink and VersaMarker Pen, EP: Sparkle Embossing Powder, Glitter: Starfire Glitter

On a personal note:

Here in central Florida, we are thin-blooded wimps when it comes to cold weather. We made it into the 50s today (about 12C), but night-time 30s with frost. So this is how we enjoy the cold weather:

(let's hear it for the wimps! - giggle)

  1. Scrapyland Challenges #106 AG with SL dies (Cheery Lynn, Quickutz, SB, Tonic listed above) 1/30 sep post

Such a gorgeous card Donna, beautifully designed and crafted as always! Love that you chose the lovely shades of blue rather than traditional red or pink, it looks so elegant in these colours.
It may be unusually cold in Florida at the moment but it looks wonderfully warm and welcoming in your home!

Your card is beautiful. I really love your embossing on this card and the beautiful dies.

Being a Florida girl, I am also a wimp when it comes to the cold temperatures. I hear next week we will really get some cold (frozen to us) weather. Love your fireplace. How lovely it would be to stand next to it.

One of the first things I spotted was the candlestick phone. [Bunny]

Hi Donna,
firstly I must aplogize for getting the wrong name as our host in my DT post I have now rectified that.
All I say was I was having a senior moment.
Love this wonderful theme as it has got me to make my Anniversary card early for a change.
I love your wonderful card and the gorgeous design is so brilliantly created.
The colours are so pretty and what a very gorgeous die cut image and your rose looks stunning.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Hi Donna, That is a beautiful card.

We have had temps of -5 today. Road gritters went out at 2pm and plan on going again at 2am. The icy wind is just awful. Would love to be huddled up in front of that lovely fire.

Take care
Sue

Some great tips here to add movement to the leaves and add some shine. Your card reminded me of how I actually love blue and white color combinations on fabrics and interior designs, but it’s one I don’t think I’ve used on cards, there’s usually another color added as well. Your card is lovely and romantic.

Really gorgeous, Donna! The semi-transparent EP gives such a beautiful finish to your dry embossed panels. Those leaves! Hard to believe I have the same dies. I've never made them look this good! I thought at first the image in the heart was a stamp, but it's part of the die. Beautiful! Your home looks so cozy with the fire in the hearth. Sheesh, it has hardly even been that cold here. I don't even remember seeing frost yet this year.

This is gorgeous, the addition of the pearly embossing powder brings it to a whole new level of elegance. Like the look on the flower too. You would not like the weather here in Missouri, snow again this weekend and down to zero, I'll be by my fireplace under a blanket.

Absolutely gorgeous card Donna and love all the beautiful embossing with the added embossed sheen--I love it when we had an open fire but that was our onlt form of heating in a big four bedroomed house just one coal fire in the living room and when the miners were on strike they brought coal from Poland and it used to explode and pepper the wall on opposite side of the room the poor dog was terrified and could tell you a great story of when hubby swept the chimney himself!!!

Beautiful card design and I admire how you always manage to bring such elegance to your work. This card is no exception. And, we thought we had a pretty nice day with a high of about 30 degrees. But I understand that your body thermostat really can be jolted when that temperature reaches you there. So stay warm....your fire looks so cozy in the fireplace.

Wow that is gorgeous, such a lovely detailed heart die, I love what you have done with the embossing powder and the pearlescent paper with it is just lovely. So pretty with the glitter too, beautiful sparkle all around!
Your fireplace looks so nice and warm, ours isn't working right so we haven't had a fire this year, and we aren't willing to pay out to have someone come out and look at it :( Hope the cold spell doesn't last for too long.

Such an elegant and gorgeous card Donna! Really love that pretty embossing folder you've used and the ink swiping looks amazing on your design too! One of my fave dies that I've only used a couple of times! You are certainly keeping nice and warm! We are going to have a low of -18 here tomorrow night so I know you certainly wouldn't enjoy it too much over my way! Plus more snow on top of the 7" we just got! LOL! Stay warm and enjoy cuddles sweet friend! HUGS

I suspect 50 would be chilly in Florida, although it would be downright balmy here lol Monday we may hit 10 degrees....yay! Love this fold, it's just perfect with the heart closure and that fabulous couple. I LOVE your leaves, they really stand out and look quite lovely! Stay warm sweetie! xo~

I like this type of theme for the card! Awesome colors. In my desert state we are not used to snow or rain and it snowed twice which ended up in about 200 car wrecks in two days and when it rains we are so confused!! Lol

Another gorgeous card, Donna! LOL at the wimps and their applause club!!! Last weekend it was very cold for us in our mild little corner of the SW of the UK, with a light dusting of snow, and our boiler broke down on Friday evening so we were without any heat all weekend! Fortunately the plumber was booked for Monday so all was soon well again! We cuddled up with the kitties and all kept each other warm!
