Cardz 4 Galz - Your Favorite Flower and Why

Hello, Friends! Here in Florida we are delighted that our typical Autumn weather has arrived yesterday FINALLY! Lower humidity, cooler nights, and even cooler in the daytime! Even the weather man said, "It's been years since we have experienced our typical Fall in the Tampa Bay Area".
SIGH - Happiness is Autumn in Florida.

There's a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz Challenges today!

Badges are awarded for the Spotlight Winner and Top Picks.

Challenge #59 is chosen by designer INA G - and the theme is:

  Your Favorite Flower and Why

show us your Paper Crafting projects using any technique and medium,
AS LONG AS IT USES YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER!
Challenge ends on NOVEMBER 8th.

Because Roses do not grow in Florida, I treasure them with their velvety petals and soft scents. They are available in so many colors, so today's card honors the pale orange roses available in other parts of the country.

The wood mount stamps in my craft room are enjoying themselves these days because I am paying attention and using them. It's been fun because I can stamp the images repeatedly and have a great final image by using my trusty OLD, OLD, OLD Stamp-o-Graph. Have you ever heard of it? It's a hinged platform like the Tonic Stamp Platform, with 2 open-ended sides. This image was repeatedly stamped 3 times to achieve a vibrant color:

In fact, everything on this card is at least several years old with the exception of the distressing done with Burnished Bronze Embellishment Mousse.

Oldies but Goodies:  the old Peddler's Pack stamp from 2002, and the pretty vellums from 2003, embellishments which are years old, and the MS daisy punch which is likely 8-10 years old.

Dry embossed and distressed, the frame is popped up. The dark brown Coordinations Paper has been dry embossed and sanded.

A few Autumn colored rhinestones adorn the card and cover a few boo-boos.

The vellum has a metallic pearlescent sheen (banners) with a computer generated sentiment "Come and meet my roses...":

Thanks for popping by today! I hope you enjoyed my Autumn colored roses!

And be sure to add your pretty flower project to the
Cardz 4 Galz Challenge.

Products Used:

  • Images: Peddler's Pack Roses (bought in 2002 and still virginal) YIKES!, computer-generated sentiment
  • Dies: Grand Nestabilities Large Labels, Sue Wilson Pierced Flags, Memory Box Chloe Stems
  • Punches: MS Daisy Edge
  • Embossing Folder: Craftwell Love Triangles, Craftwell Delicate Dots
  • Inks: Memento Cantaloupe, Tea Dye Distress Ink, Old Paper Distress Ink
  • Paper: Gold Pearl Vellum, White Pearl Vellum, Tan, Neenah Ivory, Coordinations Brown
  • MISC: Copic Markers, Burnished Bronze Embellishment Mousse, Flowers, Grosgrain Ribbon, Jewels, Leaves

Hi Donna this is a stunning card I love the colours and the roses are so pretty. I agree with you Roses are one of my favourite flowers. They won't grow in my garden the soil isn't right. Take care. Hugs Jackie

This is gorgeous, Donna. What a beautiful rose image. I had forgotten about the Stamp-a-magig (that's what my wooden rubber stamp positioner is called!) Funny I was just thinking about the fact that you couldn't use the stamp platform with the wooden stamps, thanks for the reminder!) Love how you've framed this beauty with the layers of the frame and punched borders and your bouquet is exquisite! The Fall colors are so pretty and beautifully coordinated.

OK, I hope I'm not losing my mind because I was here yesterday and I don't remember that absolutely gorgeous banner of the autumn trees reflecting on the lake!!! WOW!!

Beautiful card Donna! I just love the neutral tones, so rich and warm and perfect for the season! Your rose image is stunning and I love that your 3D florals match perfectly! Wonderful borders and the double layered banner for the sentiment is fabulous!

I had no idea that roses don't grow in Florida! That's so sad! Is it because it is too hot there? Roses are such a huge thing up here, we have whole entire clubs that have rose growing competitions! Can you purchase them at flower shops for special holidays like Valentine's Day?

Thanks for the 'smiles'! Those rams were hilarious and how cute is that little squirrel!! Awwww! I'm gonna try to get outside today. It's been raining every day here, which keeps me in doors this time of year for lack of a rain coat. Fingers crossed. hugs to you dear friend :)

Hi Donna, What a shame you can't grow Roses there. Could you grow the smaller ones as house plants?

Your card is lovely.

Hope you are having a nice day. Sue

So, Donna, first of all, your new blog photos are fantastic! Then, I got to drool all over my computer at the gorgeous card you made. You take each of your stamps to a whole new level - truly art at its best. Thank you so much for the tutorial! Lastly, your cute squirrel made me smile and the playful ram made me laugh out loud. I could watch it all day! Glad your Autumn started finally; I remember the long, long, LONG summers living in Gainesville years ago. Guess what though - our Autumn here in Michigan just started this week as well! I'm thinking your idea of Fall and mine are quite different but it's still my favorite time of year anywhere I go. Wonderful card, my friend!! Thanks for sharing

A beautiful card Donna, in lovely autumnal colours. I love the punches frame too. I am really impressed with how you are using some ‘old’ crafting goodies :-)
I didn’t know that about roses in Florida. I’m sure you must have other beautiful flowers to take their place.

Oh wow! Your stamped roses are gorgeous! I love that stamp and that particular color! I used to have yellow tea roses out back that were soooo fragrant, but Hubby and a shovel screwed that up lol (although at the time it was not lol) I also love your cluster of beautiful die cut roses--sooooo pretty! The metallic and shimmer are perfect and pleasing! This is one glorious card!

Becky said...

This is a beautiful card, and yellow roses are my favorite. I have a beautiful pink rose growing in my front yard that is at least 30 years old. My niece gave it to my mother, who had a green thumb. At one time I counted almost 30 blooms blooming at one time. Next time it blooms I'll take a picture and send you. It's gorgeous.

This is so breath taking Donna. I adore the gorgeous colours. The rose looks like you could just touch it's velvet petals.

Old items but certainly not out of fashion. It's s gorgeous design. I love the frame you used, its pattern I'm surprised to see how well it works with the delicate and more vintage like items, it sort of stands out and blends in with the rest at the same time.

Hallo liebe Donna,
Hugs Silvi

Wow that is gorgeous, I too love those colors in roses, such a lovely stamp and you have colored it beautifully! Pretty idea to add to the framing with that border punch, really gives it an extra great touch! Lovely arrangement you have put in the corner too, so lovely!
Glad to hear the heat has become a little more bearable.
That video was so funny, I was surprised how long he stayed with the ball

Oh my word Donna - that stamp is amazing. I never realised that you don't have roses in Florida - I must admit I love the roses in my garden and ours are really old so they smell absolutely wonderful (some of the newer ones don't seem to smell half as good - in my humble opinion that is). I love the colours and the embellishments you've used on your design. You've really made me think of my old stash now!! Lots of hugs to you Sue Pxxx

Another utterly gorgeous oldie but goodie! Those roses and your beautiful card in the autumn colors just sing to me. I have some roses that color, growing in a pot in the back yard where the deer can't get them. The color varies in intensity at different times. I confess I still use my old SU Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for anytime there's a chance I may need to repeat stamp for a better impression. I nearly always use it for sentiments and stamp more than once. Your Stamp-o-Graph looks easier to use as I can't let go of the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig when I re-ink my stamp. The squirrel at the end of your post just cracks me up! I kinda feel sorry for the ram in the video. I hope you're still enjoying some autumn weather!
