A Snowman's HUG A HEART CARD DRIVE

I am soooo glad to see you!

It's time for a new Cardz 4 Galz challenge!

Badges are awarded for the Spotlight Winner and Top Picks.

Challenge #36 theme is a favorite of teamie Caz - A Snowman -

so get crafting and show us your snow people!
Challenge ends on December 7.

Products for my simply sweet card:
  1. My Besties Snowman IMG382
  2. Hero Arts "Sparkle" sentiment set
  3. Copic Markers, red grosgrain ribbon, Distress Inks, Deep Lagoon Versafine Ink
  4. Swiss Dot embossing folder, Heart die cut, SB Modern 5x7 Stationary dies
  5. Glitter Paper (glitter will not rub off), white, red, blue cardstock

My card is being used for the

Hug a Heart Drive:

to brighten the holidays for the very young pediatric cardiac patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital. The husband of Our Blogging Buddy Christina Hor Designs is a cardiologist there.

This year, Christina and her children are creating mini 3D Christmas trees for each room in the intensive care and inpatient wings. With so many rooms, Christina has never been able to have a card for every child spends Christmas in the cardiac unit.
This year, she is hoping to do that, but needs a little help from friends.
For more information please click here.
and a sweet thank you from me to my Sweet Friends!

On a Personal Note:

What happened? Did Old Man Winter make a mistake?
We were warned that our area MIGHT have a chance of frost Monday night.
Something unheard of for Florida in November.
Not only did we have a frost, but we were 30F degrees (-1.1C) for several hours.
So our vegetable garden and tender plants likely bit the dust. We'll know in a few days.
The front pasture was coated with a thick layer of icy frost until about 9AM this morning - VERY unusual for Florida in November! But pretty, none-the-less. (there is always a silver lining, right?)

So what caused this turn of events?

I think Shona Erlenborn's visit to Sanibel Island triggered the frost.
She flew down from New Jersey last week.
It **HAS** to be her fault, doesn't it?

In the meantime, Florida's weather is gorgeously welcome, with lower dew points for lower humidity, and highs in the high 70s to low 80s. We love it! And so would you, so head over our way and visit the fabulous theme parks in our area.

PS. The Barred Owls were serenading and laughing again last night!

I'd like to support the following Challenges please:
  1. A Snowflake's Promise #33 Anything Goes with Optional theme of Seasons 11/29
  2. Come and Get It Challenges Nov 20 - "Get Well Soon" (as written above, this is for an inpatient pediatric cardiac patient in the Nationwide Children's Hospital) 11/26

A very quick visit to look at your latest creation (which is adorable Donna) and also ask that if you have the new blogger dashboard changes and dislike it as much as most seem to, then would you please take a quick look at my post today and add your support.

This is so cute sweetie and such fantastic colouring of the image. Sounds like you need extra woollies as you are not use to the cold. I hope your garden survives.

Hi Donna this is gorgeous, Mr Snowman is stonkingly cute but the little kid hanging out of the bag is the best.

Been having internet issues, keeps dropping out all the time so we have switched providers. Hopefully this will do the trick and let me on line more often.

Off to see all I missed.

Warm crafty hugs from Shirl x x x

Hi Dear Donna,

very sweet your card. I love the golden glitter heart...
Thank you for your sweet comment on my Christmas card, I got into the top 3 of your Challenge at Cards 4 galz :)
You were asking about the font of my watermark. I don't know the font. I bought my blog layout from Daphne http://www.thedutchladydesigns.com/ and in the price you also get a watermark in black and white. So you would have to get in touche with her.
I hope that helps.
Have a great day,
Regards Melanie-Jane

Frost? In Florida? Say it ain't so. I'm in Jacksonville Beach which means we'll be colder than Sanibel.

Cute card. I like that you made it for a patient in the hospital. Thank you for joining us at Come And Get It challenge. Bunny DT

Well, no wonder you picked out a cute snowman to showcase in this design! He is certainly adorable and sure to bring smiles. That was very cold for you indeed and to get a frost. So sorry about your garden too! We had temps in the mid thirties this morning when I went to church but that is not unusual for us in our part of the country. In fact, we think of that as being quite mild. It did make it to the 50's but it has since cooled down and is now snowing.

The card is beautifully colored (with my favorite color combination by the way) and is cute as can be. Love the shape too. Will try to make some cards for the children. No promises. But I will try. Happy Thanksgiving.

So cute and adorable, Donna! I love your snowman! Beautiful background too! Sounds like your weather has been unusual! I don't like winter so I'm definitely not living in the right part of the world! It's way too cold for me! But on a positive note, I can stay inside where it's warm and make some cards! Take care and I hope you enjoyed your holiday!

Eret said...

Such a beautiful card. Love your coloring. Looks like a real snowman. It makes me want to build one. Sadly all the beautiful snow we had for few weeks is gone now. I would be very happy to have a temperature below zero. You can send all the cold to my way :)

So cute and perfectly colored, of course! I love how you expertly placed those Swiss dots. Yes, that's what's so nice about glitter paper -- it doesn't rub off, sigh. Gosh, sounds like winter has come to Florida! It's been raining like crazy here.

Oh my, Donna! This is one ADORABLE snowman and bestie! I LOVE it, and what beautiful coloring and a fabulous card! I love the layers and how you've embossed a portion of it (genius!), and what a great shape! Yes, this is going to light up the face of one precious child! Hugs, precious and loving friend! You are a joy! xoxo

Oh my goodness is that snowman ever adorable and I love the way it is colored, the glow around his head is just so sweet and Love the shimmer heart too, it is sure to bring sunshine to whomever receives it!!
Wow that low of temps down there that is something else, that would be a bummer if it messed up your garden.

Thanks for all the info on Blogger's mess-up. I've commented at Brenda's forum, but I'm not seeing all that much distress (yet!) I am however, having trouble leaving a comment at one blog. It repeatedly asks me to choose a profile (even though I'm signed in, and use the google id) When I select the option, the rectangle with the selection is blank. I can't choose a profile, nor type a comment. (I email her since I have her email addy). I'm seeing lots of complaints at other blogs though. I loved the bright colors & cute image of this delightful Snowie & friend card, and I love that modern card die shape. I think you must have had colder temps than we've had. One night I think we had 29 but so far, don't think the plants outside got too distressed. Enjoy the cooler less humidity weather! Hugs & TFS (hope you had a great Turkey day and are feeling good too).

Oops...forgot to say, did Shona take the cold back up north after her sunny visit ended? LOL

I was looking more closely at your coloring here. I'm trying to start coloring in my snowmen instead of leaving them all white and the way you used blue here really works. And you managed to make a curvy snowy landscape for him. A little yellow around his head adds light in a nice way. Sweet!

I love this card. Snowmen melt my heart, and the little girl is adorable.
Will be so special for a little one at Christmas. I have made some cards, and will get them off to Christina this week.

What a lovely card Donna! I just adore snowman images for Christmas, and this one is so sweet and adorable! Love the fun card shape and the bright and cheery colours too! Fantastic holiday design my friend, totally put me back in the Christmas spirit!

I think Mother Nature has completely lost her marbles, and I for one am a little annoyed. Here you are getting cold temperatures in Florida, yet I am in Canada and it's almost December and not even a frost yet!! I love winter, love everything about it, and last year we didn't even get a winter, so let's hope Mother Nature gets her act together soon. Bring on the snow I say!!!

AWE!! Now how precious is this image!! I just adore your snowman and that pretty shimmer over the heart too!! The texture and design are so delightful and all very well thought out! Thanks for sharing this and I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving! HUGS
